The Republican Freak Show
The vile orange blob who campaigned on statements like 'I am so rich you wouldn't believe it' is now reduced to selling watches to fund his living expenses, such is the depths of the abyss they have sunk to. -

Transport Department Clarifies Fatal Bus Fire Incident to Committee: CNG Leak Confirmed
In a heated meeting at the House of Representatives on October 3, the Transport Commission grilled officials from the Department of Land Transport regarding a recent fatal bus fire involving a school trip in Uthai Thani province. The bus, equipped with modified gas tanks, suffered a catastrophic gas leak that led to the tragedy. Jirut Wisalchit, the Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and provided a timeline of the events. Jirut stated that he had visited the scene after the fire was extinguished and had engineers inspect the vehicle. According to Cheep Nomsean, Director of the Automotive Engineering Office, the inspection revealed that the right rear door mechanism of the bus was functional, and the bus was a single-decker with a lower compartment for luggage. No tyre explosion was found; instead, it was discovered that one of the 11 gas tanks had come loose, causing a gas leak. Furthermore, the front axle had broken, dragging against the road and sparking the fire. The Director-General also noted that another bus with similar gas tank installations was identified and would be inspected immediately. The Transport Department has issued five directives in response to the incident: 1. Inspect all 13,426 public and private buses using CNG within 60 days. 2. Raise the standards for non-scheduled public buses, which currently lack stringent regulations . 3. Collaborate with the Ministry of Education and schools nationwide to ensure that all vehicles used for student and elderly transport are thoroughly inspected before each trip. 4. Introduce laws mandating that staff on buses are trained in emergency response and passenger assistance. 5. Implement regulations requiring operators to inform passengers of emergency procedures, similar to those on airlines. During the meeting, Nakhon Sawan MP Peeradech Siriwansan and Khon Kaen MP Chatchawan Apirakmankong raised concerns about the number of gas tanks on the bus, questioning why five extra tanks had been installed beyond the original six. They also pointed out the failure of inspectors to notice these modifications during registration and vehicle checks. Jirut confirmed that the bus had indeed been modified with five additional tanks, and the investigation would determine responsibility for the oversight. The eighth tank, which was not part of the official inspection, was found to be the one leaking gas. Further questions were raised about the vehicle’s age, as it was first registered in 1970 and re-registered in 2018 after extensive modifications. The Commission asked whether the vehicle’s true age should be counted from its initial registration or its more recent reconfiguration. The Department of Land Transport has suspended the operator’s license for the company involved and confirmed that the driver’s license would also be suspended pending the investigation. If found guilty, both will face severe penalties, including permanent revocation of their licenses. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to establish the full circumstances behind the incident. Police forensic teams will release additional findings, and legal action will follow based on the results. In response to ongoing concerns, Chiang Mai MP Cheongchai Chaleerin added that CNG tanks, while difficult to ignite, could pose risks if leaks occurred, and stressed the need for thorough inspections of all similar vehicles. Help on "Retirement Visa"
I'd be doubtful of both explanations. If you view the above image, I posted, you'll note that when I updated my passbook at an ATM on 25/12/23, it was less than 3 months since I previously update the book and certainly far less than 30 transactions, but it still consolidated the transactions between 31/10/23 to 25/12/23. Had I gone in the branch, they would have printed every transaction between those dates. -

V P Debate
I don't have any problem with people being right wing dudes. The problem I have is they are supporting an utterly disgusting human being, which makes them either as thick as two planks, or completely venal. Before you assume the mantle of righteousness, may I point out the Olympic gold medal for spewing insults on a daily basis is Trump himself. I am quite confident if I took the time to search through your posts I would find examples of insults, so I suggest you put off donning a halo for a while yet.- 1

Save The Children Urges Action on Child Road Deaths in Thailand
Sadly nothing will be done because it just goes on and on and on and the government, police do absolutely <deleted> all, as with the 50 plus a day deaths on the roads as a whole, that figure doesn't include the sad loss of life after the accident in hospital. -

Introduction to Personal Income Tax in Thailand
My view on this is that everyone should wait until after the new tax forms and instructions are released, which I understand will be around November or possibly December. There are many open questions regarding what will be required and even tax consultants and Big 4 don't have all the answers yet. It is possible that the news release at the end of the year might change the tax landscape for foreigners but I can't imagine how. There are lots of Thai CPA's around who will prepare taxes for you and the cost seems to run from 7,500 upwards. Finding somebody who is qualified and truly knows what they are doing is a different matter and will require you to ask around for references from people you know and trust. Sorry I can't be more helpful but everyone is in a wait and see mode at present. The Revenue does have a list of businesses that can enter tax returns online but whether or not they will actually complete the forms also is unclear. One very solid option is if you have uncomplicated tax affairs, you can take your numbers to the local Revenue office and ask them to enter the information for you, they are typically most helpful in this regard and there is no cost involved, You've just betrayed yourself chiang maike 😆 -

Foul-Smelling Trail of Feces Found in Thai Parliament
Sort of reminds one of the recent Topic concerning the Farang who dumped on the road, and then took a cleansing bath in the temple pool. That Topic still sticks with one. And then, you had the Topic of the Chinese guy/woman who did the same in the CM canal, quite a number of years back. Obviously, these kinds of stories sell newspapers. -

Is Thailand Value for money
If I were a Billionaire, I probably wouldn't be any happier or live a significantly different lifestyle. Sure, I'd drive a newer car, but is that really significant to my life? Food, not sure how bacon, pork sausages, muffins, marmite, ham, roast pork, Zinger burgers, English pancakes, baked potato and chilli, chicken Jalfrezi and naan bread would be any higher quality if I had more money. Even a breakfast of moo ping and sticky rice (30bht) is pretty good. -
