In comparision to say Mai Sai... who rates the Sunday Market? It has grown amazingly in the last 3 years... I see excellent local sellers yet I see some copy imports coming onto the scene. I think it is only a matter of time b4 the copy gangs take over...

The most popular stalls seem to be funky new gear stores.... Opinions on the Sunday Market to date--- it is HUGE now. I cannot get a parking spot anywhere- dam it.

... generally, WS i cheaper than nightbazaar ... seeking parking south of Ratcahdamnern would statistically bring you closest to the center of Sunday WS, but unless you come early, you'll be better off parking somewhere east of Thapae gate and include the extra walking as part of the experience. As for special good bargains - help youself - I'm on the stall owners' side so no help from me regarding how to get this or that same item the cheapest. Can recommend eating in any one of the three temple grounds closets to TP gate, though.... Particularly the Kao Soi offered next to the entrance (closest to TP) of Wat Pan On (order a double at 40b, if you wan't a full meal)

I'm not usually in the market for the junk that's for sale in street markets until I'm heading home to Canada with some stuff for my grand kids. I've got a house full of STUFF my ex-wives bought. It's nice stuff, and expensive stuff, but it's still just stuff. :)

I have to be aware on what night the night "bizarre" is running because I hate being stuck in the traffic caused by it. I would rather walk than try to find a parking place near the sales area. Fortunately, I finally learned all the small soi detours.

I DO check out the stalls occasionally and marvel at the craftsmenship of some articles. I would hate to try and make anything for the price that they sell it at. That just blows me away. If I see an item I want then I usully don't haggle with the already low price... even though they EXPECT me to haggle.

I believe the prices at the Sunday Market and the one day night markets are similar to what I see for sale in Mai Sai. However, there are a few things I seem to find in Mai Sai that I don't find in Sunday markets in Chiang Mai.
