Has anyone else here ever done time in prison?

You learn how to respect the caboose there.

Else? Not quite Master Po then.

Regards

That puts things in context. Bleat on fellows, please. Nothing makes people happier than reading your thoughts about the punishments you would inflict on your fellow man if you had the power.

What are you teaching me and how do you know what I can afford :) ? Again your post makes no sense and completely out of context???

Your level of understanding is not my disorder.

Remember --- it isn't the caboose that kills you it is the locomotive.

Has anyone else here ever done time in prison?

You learn how to respect the caboose there.

I will take your word for it Sean. No I have not done any time in prison and proud of that fact.

Actually, a couple months hosted by Thai prison system would be the ticket. He can fraternize with his Red and black shirt buddies. They'll have all sorts of time to talk revolution, while fiddling around in the floor filings, looking for cockroaches to supplement their watered down cupful of starch, a.k.a. rice.

maybe cockroaches but nobody from airport.

nice to see a brave falang with a healthy body. Most western men here are misfits back home and its better that he is the missfit amongst you lot.

Wounded Australian on handouts takes to red shirt stage

  • Online news: Local News

Conor David Purcell, a former Australian military reservist, is a long way from home. The 29-year-old has two infected hip wounds, no money, no passport and survives on handouts from his Thai and foreign friends.

138553.jpg WHITE FACE IN A RED CROWD: UDD fixture Conor David Purcell. His speeches have fired up the red shirt supporters.

But when he takes to the red shirt stage at Ratchaprasong, thousands of people stop and listen attentively to the Irish-born Aussie ``military'' man as he reads his speeches, which are immediately translated into Thai.

To the red faithful, he knows what he's talking about, whether it's discrediting government accounts of the Sala Daeng grenade attacks or the "criminality" of the April 10 bloodshed near the Democracy Monument.

The red shirt leaders nod their approval at Mr Purcell, who claims to have done "quite extensive" work with the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) and trained with the Singapore and Malaysia military.

"I don't think I should fight,'' Mr Purcell said when asked about his role with the red shirts. "What I'm trying to do is keep the world informed, those speeches which are then put on the internet are keeping the world informed.''

But in a conflict confused by multiple layers of lies and half-truths, Mr Purcell may only be adding to the puzzle by talking up his military credentials.

"You need to take what he says with a big dose of salt,'' said a source at the Australian embassy. "He's a big noter who gilds the lily big time.''

138554.jpg STIR 'EM UP: Purcell on the UDD stage with Weng Tojirakarn, translating the Australian's remarks.

Mr Purcell, who claims a political science degree from the University of Western Australia, says he had always been an admirer of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his poverty-alleviation policies. "His macro-economic policies, I thought, were brilliant; the fact that he seemed to be the first prime minister to focus on the poor and the majority of people.''

Mr Purcell, who says he is not paid by the reds, became "radicalised'' and "very angry'' at the Thai government after what he witnessed during the April 10 fighting, which left 25 people dead.

"The criminality on that day was very similar to Bloody Sunday in Ireland,'' he said. "It was an insult to any soldier, it was an insult to any rules of engagement, it was an insult to any manly sense of honour that they tear-gassed a crowd of monks and businessmen.''

He says he was injured by two silicon-coated bullets while trying to shelter behind an APC secured by the reds and now has a ``dirty wound'' which cannot be stitched and has to be treated with antibiotics.

During the skirmish he lost his Australian emergency passport and 1,400 baht. He signed a statutory declaration at the Australian embassy on April 20 detailing his ordeal. ``They said you have to go home straight away, then they walked back into their air-conditioned office and made themselves a cup of tea,'' Mr Purcell said.

The embassy source said Mr Purcell's behaviour and public statements were ``disturbing'' and they had advised him to return home. ``He's actually broken quite a few Thai laws,'' the source said.

Mr Purcell denies he has interfered in Thai affairs, saying he has only given a ``witness statement'' of what actually happened on April 10.

He says he is now working with the reds' legal and public relations teams and is "throwing ideas out''.

In his latest speech he asked the UN Security Council to refer the situation in Bangkok to the International Criminal Court and for the court to investigate the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation.

Mr Purcell says that when the protests are over he plans to continue his attempts to set up a charity here with connections to Vietnam and Cambodia.

A loser from the get-go.

Set up a charity? Unfortunately there are sheeple who will follow such a nutter.

the Cambodia connection !!!!!!!!!

A Thai court issued orders on Tuesday to arrest former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on terrorism charges, accusing him of helping to fund two months of anti-government riots.

The court says there is enough evidence to believe that Thaksin was the mastermind of weeks of anti-government riots that began in April and left 88 people dead and 1,400 wounded.

Government officials say Thaksin contributed millions of dollars toward the 10 weeks of protests and is believed to have organized the smuggling of arms and fighters from Cambodia.

Arresting Shinawatra may not be easy. It's believed the telecom tycoon has resided in Dubai since his ouster in a coup in 2006, but he keeps his location secret. He was last believed to be in France for the Cannes film festival.

Thai prosecutors and the Foreign Ministry said they would launch a global hunt for Thaksin. If he is captured and convicted, he could be sentenced to death.

Thanks

3 idiots attack an Indian

and the whole country is bad

If they were three Indian women, there'd have been an outcry! :)

In the last case the Indian idiot was found to have attacked and burnt himself in an insurance fraud attempt. The Others were attack by ex Lebonese refugees.

It's not an Australia racism thread and nobody is trying to compare you to the KKK or say there is a major problem with race there but it is far from perfect and the cases I was mentioning were cases of clear hate crimes against Indian University students. Maybe you were not following events but as I was posted in India last year these cases were big in the news there. Whatever like I said no country has a spotless record.

Please consider before you respond to Sean.

He is clearly in troll mode, and even at his best, barely worth anyone's attention.

As for the Irish/Aussie - let him serve his 3 months for immigration infractions, and then boot him out. Preferably to his birth, rather than adopted, country.

Yeah he's a charecter eh. I can't understand what he's on about but strangely entertaining??

When alcoholism is at the steering wheel, it could a doctorate from the finest universities, to a high school dropout.

I recall a friend of mine, a very bright medical graduate surgeon from California (arguably the most difficult state to gain admission), was homeless, lost his license, wife, home. You couldn't dare tell him alcohol was a problem. He tell us all to shut up because he is so educated. He is since recovered, but it teaches us all a valuable lesson.

Addiction is truly DEMOCRATIC. Some of the expats you see may indeed be educated, or uneducated, rich or poor. Doesn't matter, alcohol has stolen from them a great deal.

Why is it always the Aussies and Brit who come to center stage here in Thailand for being just plain stupid.

We ain't stupid we are strong and if we beieve something then we stand up and speak straight. I have no comment on what he was talking about but i give him credit because he knew his business and which means that he also knew the out come of his actions and still braved on.

i don't think he is stupid he sounded like he was all there. Maybe to headstrong for his own good.

i try to not give my opinins on thai politics as a foreigner though i do respect the way people are ready to fight to the death what what they beleive in. reds and yellows!

Most of our 'new-world cousins' are sadly lacking in understanding, but not to blame them for their substandard education.

educated :) what kind of education teaches you that's it's a wise move to be front and center in an illegal protest in a country you are not a citizen of? and when your own embassy tells you to get the f*** out of dodge because you are going to be in deep sh*t you blow them off! I wouldn't be so quick to use this moron as your poster boy for the Australian education system.

That last sentence is what will absolutely ensure that no government wil deport him to Thailand. But if the governement has money to burn trying to get sophisticated countries to behave like this third world dictatorship, will let them enjoy spending it.

What a wan** another know-it-all Australia representing the "western values".

Oh yeah Australia is an egalitarian society.. as long as you are white, narrow minded and a racist.

Australia is the only country to make an international incident over one of their trashy tourists stealing a bar mat.

You are the wank** if you think he is an dicky die Aussie who represents the majority of us.

Australia is very multi-cultural now and we live in harmony with all races.

The bar-mat woman got her night of fame on tv, not the applause from the citizens though.

I notice you have not bothered to fill in your profile details. Are you ashamed of your heritage or something?

Go off and finish your wank*** and refrain from commenting on something you do not understand.

Im not bashing on Aussies or anything but I got to take issue with your record on race relations with the recent attacks on Indians in Australia I wouldn't be so quick to claim it as the ideal for racial harmony. Just saying...

The so called Indian attacks were because they are a 'soft' target by thugs (who reside in every country), not racially related.

They have since been warned not to wander the streets with their expensive apparel and items worth stealing on show. There were two Indians killed, one allegedly by an Indian!

You are right about that and they have probably done this as the evidence may not be to good. Every body keeps saying he is a smart men, he is not going to leave any trails. But it is also a fact that the people from the north and north east donated an enormous amount of money not for an illegal cause but to help there fellow countrymen at the protest area.

So we can call him a silly bugger,

But if you say Danged Africans... oops over the line,

but everyone can whack American's to their hearts content,

even if they're Canadian or Mexican or Bolivian... still Americans.

But someone will try nand say Americans is a race...

Not that I ever noticed.

Why is this not making so much sense...?
