May 26, 201015 yr forgot to mention in my opening post. any favourite gigs, concerts, festivals that youve been to. anything that sticks out as a special moment. I remember walking out of a Motley Crew concert after taking too much purple microdot and walking 4 kms back to my house in -25 weather.
May 26, 201015 yr I remember back in january 1976, as a very junior policeman in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, after just graduating I was assigned to the Neil Diamond concert at the Myer Music Bowl for 3 nights. I was right down next to the stage and ND got all the cops in the place involved when he sang Song Sung Blue, the spotlights were on us as we linked arms and swayed back and forth to the tune. It was quite an experience, sadly never got to talk with him though.

Gigs I've been to: Bon Jovi, Napalm Death, Rollins Band, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, The Misfits, Prince, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Kanye West, PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Temper Trap. Would love to see David Bowie, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Nick Cave, Deftones, Kings of Leon. Last song I listened to was David Bowie Modern Love on the way to work
May 28, 201015 yr Patti Smith.... Saw her open a Dylan concert back in'98. I'd have been quite happy for her to have performed all night.
May 28, 201015 yr 1980 in Germany, saw Dire Straights first time i'd seen the ciggy lighter trick from many thousands of German folk during Romeo and Juliet, very moving.

May 28, 201015 yr Would love to see David Bowie, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Saw him on the Glass Spider Tour. Bladdy marvellous Would love to see The Cure, And went to see them on many occasions during the early 80's. Also in the same era went to see, Japan, Bauhuas, Kid Creole and his coconuts , Thomson Twins, Spandau Ballet, Simple Minds, Echo and the Bunny Men, Teardrop Explodes. The list is endless. Aaaah, those were the days.
May 28, 201015 yr Weekend before leaving for HK went four a drink or three in Brum. Ended up in a club called the "Power house" with a handful of others watching a new band from Manchester. The tall lead singer had the best voice me and my pal had heard for someone at the start of their career. Turned out Simply Red became quite famous.
May 28, 201015 yr And not wishing to brag, but also went to Live Aid ( UK ). Friend who owned a record shop in the fair Wolverhampton sold me a couple of tickets even though the claims of the bands playing, seemed too good to be true at the time. As an aside, you can tell the bullshitters from those who were really there by asking the simple question, " On the DVD why does Paul McCartney appear to duck ? " The answer? The sound system in the stadium failed for the first part of his act and some tasteless patrons threw water bottles at him............. Best concert ever though, Slade, Wolverhampton Civic Hall 1972 ( deaf for best part of a week afterwards )

May 28, 201015 yr deftones i wouldnt of thought that anyone in bedlam would have known who deftones were. why not? I've been listening to the new album but I much prefer their older tracks... Sex on fire is a mint song but unfortunately it's been overplayed here in the UK and I prefer their first 2 albums cos they're a bit more 'raw' I'm so jealous of you guys that got to see all these cool bands in the 80s, I get the impression it's not quite the same when you see them as much older people... or not?? I know Patti Smith was obviously a lot older when I saw her a few years ago but she still had amazing presence. and Joy Division
May 28, 201015 yr 1980 in Germany, saw Dire Straights first time i'd seen the ciggy lighter trick from many thousands of German folk during Romeo and Juliet, very moving. I saw them in Edinburgh the same year. Was that the year that the lighter fad started!! I was in the front row and Mark Knopfler winked at me. Suppose we couldn't do that now, ealf and safutty etc. Sorry -
