simon43 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 The Software Park ICT center/business incubator opened in Phuket about 1 year ago, and I read that there are already quite a few businesses based there. I am considering establishing my fledgling software business in Phuket, and so I'm interested in any comments about the Software Park, especially if you own a business at that center. Although my business is a new venture, it is providing outsourced services to a technical sector where I have a lot of experience and previous business success. So, any comments/advice are much appreciated Thanks Simon
HDRIDER Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 HI All i can say, its a long way from Thalang to Chalong, try it around 5PM
KarenBravo Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Not a very practical building with its floor to ceiling glass. In the afternoon every office puts up blinds to stop the sunlight getting in. I would have thought a software business could be located anywhere, especially somewhere with low rent.
simon43 Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 Thanks for the details. Actually, I have been unable to find the type of rented house that I want in Thalang, but have found something that looks suitable in Chalong. So the Software Park is not too distant. Whilst it's true that a business can be operated out of any office space, my clients are major companies in the US/Europe. So it's important to portray the business as a modern, efficient set-up, blah blah blah, since these clients may well come and visit. In any case, I'm off to visit both the Software Park, house to rent and my accountant in Phuket later this week. I'll give you my feedback about how hot it is inside the Software Park building. Simon PS - Just to add that the rent that I've been quoted for the office is low!, about 25% of my proposed house rent

Fascinating, since the front of the building (the side with more windows) faces west. With the lack of tourists and local illegal Korean tour guides, houses and offices are available everywhere. Across from modify stereo (first light going south from Central) is a nice office complex. Try that, Si43.

I heard a rumour that Cisco have been sniffing around Phuket.
simon43 Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 Yes, they mentioned to me that they will construct phase 2 shortly. The location seems good since the internet bandwidth is quite good. But primarily, I need a location 'name' that creates a good impression with overseas customers. 'Phuket Software Park' sounds more upmarket than something like '2nd Floor, 43/1 Moo 2, Cha Fa Road' Simon
PCA Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Phuket software park is located quite close to the Central Fetival. http://map.panphuket.com/mappoint/phuket-software-park I have a friend working at the park. The premises are pretty nice and they have a good and fast internet connection compared to the rest of the Island. can confirm the above, working there as well.
simon43 Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 I visited the Park on Friday, checked everything out, and am quite happy with the accommodation offered to me (facilities/rent). So I should be moving into my new office in a few weeks from now! Thanks for all the advice Simon
