Second Hand Book Shops

Featured Replies

Hi all

Anybody know of any second hand book shops on Phuket?? Have only seen the one on Chaofah E., near the zoo.

Cheers :)

Many hotels/guesthouses are selling/buying second hand books as an extra service to the guests. Watch out for the cupboard filled with books in a corner of the reception or the lounge/restaurant. Reckon most of them would be happy to at least sell books to anybody who walks in.

Downstairs in Jungceylon opposite where all the banks are by 7-Eleven.

Phang Nga Rd, about 100 meters from On On Guest house. Very popular among expats and tourists. Can't remember name of the shop but features in Lonely Planet.

Don't know street name but the shop is about 100metres to left opposite Thai Farmers bank main steps...downtown Phuket town..excellent shop 'tons" of books..maybe same one as above??

Yes, excellent place, called second wind?

There is a new place opposite as well btw.

Make that south wind, not second wind.

Kata book store at the back of the Club Med resort has a decent selection. If you return the book you get 50% of the purchase price back.

sometimes kata bookstore is more convenient to me, but they are more expensive and have a smaller selection.

They have moved btw and are now on katekwan road.

Also recommend the Kata Book Store which as Steven says has moved to Katekwan road. Another option for second hand books are the car boot sales held at The Greenman on the first Saturday of each month. There should be a huge selection of books at the next sale as unfortunately the last one was rained out. Look out for the kids from the Shanti Guesthouse as they will have quite a large selection at the next car boot sale.

Where is katekwan rd? Is the new location of the Kata Bookstore near any resorts or landmarks?

Same road as sawadee village, centara kata, alpina nalina, don's gym.

Jungceylon in the mall with all the restaurants, huge selection and

they refund 50% on exchange.

Hi Chantal (or anyone who can help) - what time does the boot book sale at Greenman start, please?

The car boot sales start around 10:00am on the first Saturday of each month. However to get the most of it would be best to visit in the afternoon. By then most of the stalls are already set up. That is weather depending of course. Also many stalls will be set up in the shade under the trees away from the parking area next to the street. So if you drive past it could appear to be empty.
