Cheese Slicer

Featured Replies

Am looking for a cheese slicer ( not the person, the instrument ) which cuts with downwards pressure of a tautened wire.

Anyone know where I can find one of these animals (domestic model )?

Will appreciate any help. Thanks.

Cheers.

You could make one yourself. 2 sticks and some strong thin metal wire.

The cheese slicers for actually getting slices of cheese you can get at Tesco.

Rimping Airport. Look in the cheese corner.

The kitchen section at Robinson's Department store?

Good one ! Like the idea but can you tell me where to find two sticks ?

Will try Tesco. Hope you're not having a lend of me !

Thanks.

Cheers.

I can afford a cheeese slicer.....but can't afford cheese that you need to slice :)

Wehugheog - my sincerest apologies.

It sometimes takes a while for the penny to drop/clunk !

I realise now, that you are perfectly correct. A length of wire with two grip-handles (sticks)would do the trick !

I have tried a few places now looking for the more sophisticated item without success and might, indeed, do exactly what you suggest.

Thank you for the recommendation.

Cheers.

Hi jaideeguy. I had the same problem until...put your ear close to the screen and I'll whisper my secret ...there's a dairy directly opposite the entrance of the zoo on Huay Kaew Road that produces a Gouda type cheese. I think it's delicious and it's less than half the price of most all other imported similar cheese. You can purchase as much or as little as you please and it might be worth giving it a shot. It could change your life forever !!!

Trouble is, you might then be looking for a cheese-slicer !

Cheers.

Just get two strong metal tubes and drill a hole in the middle. Attach wire.....

Try the Yok store on the super highway before the court house. They have all sorts of catering supplies and ingredients at wholesale prices......

Just get two strong metal tubes and drill a hole in the middle. Attach wire.....

Could you please provide a drawing.

Would these metal tubes suffice? You may note that they already have a hole in the middle which will save the effort of drilling one.

To all who might have been trying to hunt down a cheese slicer with wire cutter and are still doing so, I am happy to report that rebo's post was "spot-on". Thanks rebo. A teak base with pull-down wire cutter, plus a spare wire. Made in Thailand. Not cheap at 280 baht but very convenient.

Thanks to all for your help.

Now it's back up Huay Kaew Rd to my hush-hush cheese supplier ( read my earlier post, if interested ).

Cheers.

Why so hush-hush about your cheese supplier?

Isn't that like saying "I want this business to sell only to me". That's a recipe for business failure. Come on, tell us who's the great supplier?

Hello NancyL.

Like I said ; read my earlier post (#8 above), if interested.

Enjoy.

Cheers
