What about mute the TV and listen to an English live radio broadcasting? I would search Internet radio stations...

I tried but couldn't find any. Even BBC ones don't work in Thailand or at least on my computers

I don't know if it's still the same but in the past I've found that, although national radio blocked the football commentary local radio didn't. When my internet connection was playing up for video streaming I was able to listen to Man Utd commentary via a Manchester radio station whilst watching on on Thai TV. There was a big sync problem though.

For the last world cup in 2006 I watched the games on Thai TV with the sound turned down then connected over the internet with a friend in the UK via skype and had him put his PC microphone near his TV so I could hear the UK commentary through my laptop. We found that if he had his TV on a terrestrial channel there was a picture/sound sync problem, however if he watched the game in the UK via his Sky box the 'built in digital delay' that you get with all satelite digital channels meant the picture/sound sync problems virtually disappeared and, although not always 100%, it was certainly accurate enough not to spoil my viewing.

is Sophon available in Bangkok?

Dunno but if not there must be some sort of cable telly service?

Or take a holiday in Pattaya for a month to watch all the games.

Glock3am:

Well I figured out a way because I have an external USB sound device as well as my onboard one I was able to use this program: DaanSystems - Radiodelay

However that BBC feed has stopped now, I think there is some kind of copyright thing and they can't broadcast the whole match.

The other feeds I have found such as another BBC live commentary and the SBS commentary from Australia are unfortunately locked to local listeners only, again for some legal reason...

I'll crack this yet! It might be time to find a proxy disguising program to trick these places in to thinking I'm local...

British TV!

Glock3am:

I'll check this out! MyP2P.eu :: World Cup 2010 schedules, watch live the World Cup 2010 on your pc.

It will be in sync too seeing as it's streamed from a TV broadcast!

Edit: Aargh! Most of these are delayed too. I think I'm going to give up and be happy that they're being shown FTA at least.

Max4243:

You can log on to ESPN radio and listen to live radio broadcast in English for all the matches. However, the delay is about 90 seconds. if you can use the software as you have stated, maybe this will work. I will try the software you have recommended and see if this works.

You need to pay for a VPN then you will have no problem hearing Radio 5 Live. Get your wallet out. No other options.

various other suggestions copied over from another thread!

(fingers crossed this works with all the people's names intact - Im not trying to claim your suggestions as my own :) )

ok...had to remove the individual quote tags. sorry. but have tried to put your names preceding the suggestions you made.

I was desperate for some English commentary for the Algeria game, so I signed up for a free VPN trial which enabled me to get the 5 live iplayer stream. It was about 5 seconds behind, but at least I got some real passionate, informed English commentary, actually from South Africa, rather than three mumbling plant-pots sat in a studio in Thailand. It was well worth the delay. You can try downloading the highlights from BBC or ITV later if your trial lasts long enough.

Just google VPN free trial and you will find something. It's better than nothing if you can't get out to watch.

I'm off to Gullivers khao san tonight, as they have the game with English, it's the closest to home and we got a babysitter sorted for a couple of hours :)
