George, don't bring anything electrical that cannot be bought in LoS.

You will need a convertor for U.S. made goods, LoS is 220 volts.

Have a read of Aviator's story in "Service" on the Phuket forum.

Keep in mind that the Cap'n lives in a fairly remote area on the west coast.

Happy shopping :o

Thanks, Udon. I'm actually aware of the converter requirement, having lived in Shanghai, where the same electrical power is also 220. I had a couple of U.S. items there, including my TV, VCR, and PC that needed converters. No problems operating them.

That was quite a horror story from the Cap'n! It's a good example of why I told my wife that my hard and fast requirements are for our home to have sound and effective plumbing, western toilets, electricity, telephone, and cable TV service, wherever it's located. I love the countryside, but ONLY if it's properly "connected" to all those civilized conveniences. My 1 year tour in Vietnam was all the "rustic living" I care to endure for my lifetime! :D
