wardje
I'm not sure if this question was raised before but I'm looking for a way to dispose dry and rechargable batteries in a safe way. I don't want to throw them away together with domestic waste. Any sugestions or experiences?
davee58
Mine always go straight in the bin, seems safe enough. But for the rechargeables - You should recharge them rather than throwing them away
siamect
There are some boxes in Central Bangna... I assume they recycle them in an environmentally safe way... Martin
lopburi3
Believe I had a DTAC message the other day that Central would give some credit for dead phone batteries and as above post mentions Central suspect that would be a good place to check. lomatopo
At Fortune Town, just inside the main lobby front door (office elevator lobby) on the left is a battery drop-off bin. I dropped off a large collection last week. This bin had just about every kind of battery in it including laptop batteries. Some schools have battery bins as well. rak sa_ngop
MBK shopping centre (National Stadium BTS) has battery discard bins on the mobile phone floor (4th??). (I assume they get recycled in some form, but for all I know maybe they just get dumped in a tip or the nearest klong?)
rak sa_ngop
I went to MBK last Saturday with 2 years worth of dead batteries. Instead of finding numerous battery disposal bins instead I found NONE. The lav cleaning ladies said that the bins have been taken away! Does anycbody know where the nearest disposal bins to Silom are? Maybe just leaving the batteries boxed up for the local scrap collectors to pick up may be the best idea?
Darrel
It is incredibly short-sighted of Thailand (or indeed any country) not to have legal requirements for the provision of battery bins and obligatory free recycling services for batteries in shops that sell them, and to enforce such requirements. Batteries are highly toxic. This includes all types of batteries, even the little ones that go in your watch or camera etc.
