So here is the deal Tony Jaa AKA Tatchakorn Yeerum is now a Monk, That's right, he rode an elephant. If you'll remember, Tony Jaa campaigned to be allowed to direct Ong Bak 2.& After delays and rumors that he'd sacrifice chickens before shooting, he cracked under the pressure and disappeared for two full months to meditate in the jungle or some shyt, where some said he was "practicing black magic in Cambodia. As we should know this is bullshit! He was later luard back and demanded to be let out of his contract with the studio. At which point he disappeared in a car full of studio goons, and eventually turned up seeking refuge in a police station. Whatever happened, he dropped his demands and agreed to split Ong Bak 2 into Ong Bak 2 and 3, with someone else directing. Jaa or Yeerum had a fuc_king breakdown on Thai TV crying saying he only wanted to show the world Thai culture. So here's my take on things. Jaa, clearly, meant what he said when he threatened to walk away and disappear again. My guess is Sia Jiang from Sahamongkol films laid down the legal and financial consequences Jaa would face if he failed to fulfill his Ong Bak 2 contract, effectively forcing him back to work on that film, but now that that particular film is done and that particular debt is paid, Jaa has gone to where their contracts couldn't touch him. How long will he remain a monk? My guess is until one day after his original ten year exclusive contract with Sahamongkol expires in 2012? here is the funny thing and why im saying 2012. Recently, Raymond Wong has stepped down as the chairman of Mandarin Films to set up his own film studio which is teaming up with Mainland investors to produce a modern actioner at around HK$150m in mid 2010. The film will be directed by Ringo Lam with Chinese actor Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa are being invited to star in the film and they would have a series of fights. Raymond Wong hopes to unite the two international screen giants despite the high fee of US$3m (HK$23.4m) commanded by Tony Jaa, "I'll talk about the new firm at a later date. It'd be great to have to the two appear in the same film, but I'll only talk about it when things are finalised." In a interview Donnie said yes he wanted to do it for sure and Jaa was thumbs up as well....... so what happend???
