We are going to Samui for a little holiday and I already booked the resort. Now I just checked online for tickets and

it seems the only option is bangkok air and they charge 14.000 Baht roundtrip tickets for 2 people, is it me or is it just

way overpriced ? We can fly to Bali or Hong kong cheaper.

If that's the only option I strongly consider taking the car and drive to surat thanni and take the ferry.

Is there safe parking in surat thanni for your car ?

Would it be cheaper to fly to surat thanni and take the ferry ?

Basically I'm just looking for cheaper options than 14k for a flight that takes an hour or so.

Air Asia to Surat Airport. A bus waits at the airport and takes you to the ferry.

Or the train to Surat where a bus takes you to the ferry.

The fare is around 380 baht to the ferry port at Donsak. Ticket includes the ferry.

You can always drive to Donsak and take your car across on the ferry.

You can even get the bus to Samui from Bangkok.

It's the "old" Songserm Company, very bad service and much waste of time... if so, take the Seatran Service on arrival at Surat Train Station!

to OP - I recommend flying to surat with airasia then bus/boat to samui from there. added hassle but it will save you cash and avoids you giving in to bkk airs butt-raping fares.

alternatively, cancel your hotel and fly to phuket for a reasonable price.

the flight goes to NST ? well, I just checked the website again and there is indeed not the smallest hint where your flight actually touches down.... only the final destination "Samui" or "Koh Phangan" is mentioned. but you are right, flight DD 7804 is indeed the flight to NST...... I am sure not many people are aware of this or would even think about the possibility that the flight goes to NST....

Just get the overnight train to Chumporn and pick up the cat to the islands. Cheap for the train (800b? I can't remember), you can have a few beers or some food, get your head down early, and get some sleep. You have to hang about for a couple of hours in the early am for the ferry, then away you go.

With the prices now ?....at 3500 Baht one way I'd be surprised to get a piss poor chicken sandwich never mind an ice cream!

Last month I flew RT to Bahrain from Dubai for $250 (8000 baht) and it's about a 70 minute flight. But around here, $250 doesn't go nearly as far as in Thailand.

It all depends on the value you place on your time I suppose.
