I don't have a bachelor's in education. So, I must take the tests or have the graduate diploma.

I am taking a Master's now, not in Education.

If I pursue a PHD in education or an Ed.D, will that be accepted to get a teacher's license, or is it only a Bachelor in Education or the diploma accepted for the License?

I've heard if you have an Ed,D or a PHD in education but your Bachelors is in something else, the Doctorate doesn't count. True?

Moving to teaching forum - AFAIK there is no general requirement for anything other than a degree (regardless of what it is in) and even that is not required for all jobs as exceptions can be made.

I wasn't referring to getting work, I was referring to getting a teaching license.

I have already taken the Thai Culture course which is a requirement. I also took the TCT tests. Only passed 1 of course, so I am on a 2 year extension of the license.

Currently the rules are (Teacher's Council Website):

Qualifications

Foreigners who want to apply for a teaching license shall have the following qualifications:

1. Be at least 20 years of age

2. Hold a degree in Education or an equivalent or in other related fields accredited by the

Teachers Council of Thailand

3. Not Possess any of the prohibited characteristics pursuant to section 44 of the Teachers

and Educational Personnel Council Act B.E. 2003

4. Possess the professional standards of knowledge and experience.

Knowledge Standards

1. Thai language and culture

2. Professional ethics

3. Professional knowledge: Subject matters for teachers’ profession consisting of

· Language and Technology for Teachers

· Curriculum Development

· Learning Management

· Psychology for Teachers

· Educational Measurement and Evaluation

· Classroom Management

· Educational Research

· Educational Innovation and Information Technology

· Teacher Professionalism

This "Professional Knowledge" is that test we all have to take or go take the Post-Graduate Diploma in Teaching Profession.

So, I have heard by "Degree" they mean Bachelor's Degree.
