It gets worse. Lambert now favorite for West Ham

I certainly hope not, pay hime what he want's Delia

think he'd be daft to do that. he's just got norwich up and should have a crack at the top flight with them.

Agreed Stevie - he's on a hiding to nothing if he goes to West Ham. Whatever happens at Norwich, he is pretty much in a win / win.

I have to disagree.

He could be in a NO WIN situation at Norwich.

I has done a great job but successive promotions will put a strain on resources - playing and finance.

Ignore 'loyalty' for now (and I would not advocate West Ham as his next move) but an approach from an established Premiership club could be very attractive to Lambert.

But reputation wise, he is much more likely to keep that in tact by staying at Norwich, won't matter if they go down - he will still be seen as one of the younger upcoming managers. I can't see him getting an established Premier League club at the moment.

why would anyone 'ignore' loyalty?

I don't know you well enough to know if that was meant to be sarcastic - I certainly hope so.

I just pray we can win it, watching Reading on the TV again every saturday or sunday would be ace, I do so miss it since we got relegated a few years ago :(

Pauly, you are not SO young.

You will have experienced more of your years with Reading being out of the Premiership (and not on TV) than in it - so not such a culture shock perhaps ;)

Of course, living in LOS is fantastic, but I only get to see them play when I go home if they are not in the Premier League. In 07 & 08 I could watch every game here on TV.

Thats why promotion is so important, but there are a multitude of reasons why promotion is important , but for me thats number one.

Fact is if we don't make it we will lose some of our best players (Long, Mills, Federici & Kebe) and have to start all over again. It's the harsh reality of failure, not just at our club either any players tha have carved out a reputation in the Championship but don't make it out become targets for the Prem clubs, as do good players that got relegated

When we got relegated three years ago we lost Doyle, Hunt, Hanneman, Sonko, Kitson, and in the following season after failing in the play-offs to get back at the first attempt we lost the rest, in fact not one of our current crop was a regular in the year we got relegated, a few like Long and Federici have come on leaps and bounds since then, but they were only bit part players back then.

I really hope we can do the Jacks :)

i wasn't being sarcy, i'm just saying that for all the shallowness in football today loyalty isn't entirely dead. up and coming managers like lambert are often proud of getting their team into the top flight so want to see how he'll do up there with them, enjoy the ride etc. professional pride and that. stepping down a level to west ham - who probably can't even give him a pay rise anyway given how broke they are - would be the act of a madman or an arsehol_e. and i don't think lambert's either.

Hard luck Pauly. Reading will have another crack at it next year.

I didn't see the game as I had to work but the reports suggest it was really close and was a great game. I thought Reading would win actually.

I have watched Sheff Utd fail at 2 play off finals in recent years so I know how it feels. Hopefully next year we will gain automatic promotion,,,,,,back to the Championship

It was a great game for the nuetral supporter.

At 3-0 at half time it was all over, but then a different Reading came out second half, got back to 3-2 then hit the post, we had 20 shots on target they had 3.

Our problem was that our old defenders Harte and Griffin got skinned by Swansea'a pacy wingers and we paid the price giving away to penalties.

Still, proud of the fightback and happy we kept it going till the very end of the season, but thats 3 play-off finals now and not one victory.

Now we will lose ou best players to the premier league, we seem to have become a feeder club for Wolves and I would not be surprised to see Long Kebe or Mills there next year, if not they will certainly be somewhere else :(

I had forgotten how slow Ian Harte was until the 2nd Swansea goal. Great from dead balls but he regularly gave me heart failure when he played for the ROI he was so leaden footed.

Reading greatly assisted Swansea by the concession of 2 penalties by mindless tackles.

One or two tipping Norwich, thank you, we really have a great manager, if he stay's he will get us up, this season not so sure, but the Holt-Martin duo have got 6 goals already.

Middlesbough

QPR

Fantastic match. Think this is only the 2nd promotion to the Premier League final match I've watched and it was a cracker. Swansea were just clinical in the first half and Reading absolutely battered them the first 15 or 20 minutes of the 2nd half, amazing stuff. In the end justice was done, I feel, as Swansea were third in the league but still, with finals like this, got to love the playoff finals...
