September 17, 201015 yr From what I have noticed over the past few weeks, it takes about 6 hours for the peak height reached at San Sai to reach Nariwat Brridge. So it looks like there is a surge coming down river. I have no financial stake in this except living in the Changklan area! Iain
September 17, 201015 yr My interpretation of the chart photographed by Greenside (page 5 this thread), is that a depth of 4m at San Sai, results in 3.7m at Narawat Bridge, 6 - 7 hrs later. Highest, latest reading at San Sai is 3.35m, so still a fair way to go.
September 17, 201015 yr Just driven down Changklan, and they are putting concrete barriers and sand bags either side of the Ratti Lana.
September 17, 201015 yr 9cm rise at Narawat bridge between 10am & 11am according to the hydro website. And the level is still rising upstream. And a big increase in discharge volume. Edited September 17, 201015 yr by MESmith

September 17, 201015 yr 3.35 at Narawat half an hour ago at 2:00pm and a crowd of people gathered at the displays by the bridge, although what they were hoping to see I've no idea unless it was GTF floating past on the verandah of one of his bungalows Meanwhile the sandbags are out at the dyke by Rimping on the way to Nong Hoi ......... and just before the Holiday Inn they're hard at work filling more. This lady is about to fill her own....

September 17, 201015 yr About 3 PM today, near the Floral Condo, a warning came over the loudspeakers that flooding in the area was forecast within the next 24 hours.
September 17, 201015 yr I went and had a look from warawat market (spelling?) The good news is that it seems to have slowed it's climb in the last hour Edited September 17, 201015 yr by canuckamuck
September 17, 201015 yr In the last hour there has been a drop in the level at Sansai. Maybe we will get lucky.
September 17, 201015 yr Looks to be getting very close to 3.70m. Any live updates really appreciated. I live in Cnangklan area, but am bedsitting my youngest in hospital. will need to arrange moving things if much water comes over....
September 17, 201015 yr Well the water has been dropping quickly at Sansai, about 6 hours before Nawarat Bridge gets it. The levels at Nawarat hod been mirroring those at Sansai a quick raise and then a levelling of. A fall should be next. Having said all that though we have now got Torrential rain near Doi Saket so this could alter things.
September 18, 201015 yr Well the river got to within 12cm at Narawat of flooding at 1am. Dropped by 1cm at 2am, so it looks like they all buggered off for the weekend. Not exactly POETS day, but hardly what you would hope for in a near crisis!
September 18, 201015 yr Nice picture, canuckamuck . Seems that the immediate crisis has receded with a drop of 23cm since midnight.
September 18, 201015 yr Nice picture, canuckamuck . Seems that the immediate crisis has receded with a drop of 23cm since midnight. I was showing canuckamuk's nice pic to my Thai wife and she explained to me that Thai authorities have to block/regulate the river's flow downstream to prevent further flooding down country. Perhaps that's another reason for it being so close to overflowing up here.?.
September 18, 201015 yr According to the authorities the river at Narawat Bridge topped out at midnight last night at 3.57m and a flow of 421. At 10 AM it is at 3.30 m and flow of 364. A report from Phrao, no rain last night or today. So Mr. G you may have to go buy some real fish for your FC.
