Hello everyone,

After working almost 10 years in South Korea teaching English, It's now time to move on .

Last week, I applied and received a multi O visa from the Seoul embassy.

When I'm in Thailand, I'll be searching for a teaching position.

Will I have to change visa's or can I work on the "O" visa?

The visa doesn't allow you to work. To be allowed to work you need to get a work permit, which you can get on a non-O visa.

A work permit only allows you to work for the in the permit mentioned employer, so you can't apply for the WP till you have found a job.

Thanks, for clearing that up.

Unless you are married to a Thai there may be a second factor involved and the local labor office could require you obtain a non immigrant B visa for work permit issue. Some seem to do this.

Sound interesting.

On what bases did you apply for the multiple non-O.

My wife and children are Thai.

They are happy to be coming back home to Thailand.

Which reminds me, printed on my multi O visa, it says "No Dependents"

I'm bringing the wife and children back with me, but they all have Thai passports.

Can this be a problem?

Sorry did I read that correctly? So with a non-imm O you CAN apply for WP ? I thought it was only non-imm B which let you apply for WP

Please confirm?

A non-O will do fine, it is only on an extension of stay based on retirement that you cannot get a work permit.

Normally a non-O doesn't mention why you received it, so even if you received it based on retirement one should be alright with a non-O until one gets an extension of stay. Than the reason for the extension is mentioned.

Hi could you explain the 'extension of stay' part? What is that , I know you have to exit every 90 days - but dos 'extension of stay' mean extending at imm office inside THailand?

Also, how would they show the purpose of visa (visiting/retire) does it come up on their records when you extend?

Thanks
