If this has been covered 100 times already, please can you direct me to the link!

I have a Multiple "o" visa which I then turned into a one year spouse visa. This now expires next month and I've heard conflicting answers to my question " How do I extend it "?

I have reported every 90 days like a good boy and now I need to extend it. Is it just a case of proving we're still married or do I need to show finances again too. If so, is it 400,000 baht? If so, how long does this 400,000 have to be in my account before I show my bank book.

What other documents would I need ?

Thanks to everyone who is able to answer this most likely very common question.

Basically you need the same things and documents as you submitted for your first extension of stay. Regarding money you have two options:

1. show an income of 40,000 a month (can be from abroad)

2. show you have 400,000 in the bank in your name in Thailand. The money must be there for 2 months, but some ask for 3 months).

If you don't have enough time to season the money, you can get an extension of stay for 60 days and after that show the money in the bank.

You will need an updated bankbook and a letter from your bank confirming this. The letter form the bank has to be very recent. Get it the same day or the day before.

1. Application form T.M. 7 with one photograph size 4x6 cm. and Visa Fee 1900.-Baht

2. Copy Marriage Certificate

3. Copy Kor Ror 2 from amphur office

4. Child's birth certificate (if any)

5. Copy wife’s house registration

6. Copy wife’s identity card

7. Copy passport, non-Im visa, arrival card.

8. Interview the husband and wife for confirming status of husband and wife

9. Map to residency

10. Picture of house and family, in house and outside showing house number.

With money in bank option.

1. Letter from bank same day or day before stating bank records, make a transaction just before to get it up to date.

2. Bank account must be in Husbands name, joint accounts will not qualify.

With Income option

1. A copy of work permit

2. Personal Corporation income Tax (PND.1) in latest 3 months and personal income tax for previous year with receipt

All of the above in two copies

I read on Siam Legal website that savings are not acceptable for a Marriage\Spouse Visa as the requirement is for a monthly income.

Can anyone clarify this, as I have savings but would struggle to prove income of 40,000 baht per month.

Quote "I don't have an income but I have savings in a foreign bank account. Can I use for a Thai Marriage Visa?

Normally, savings account will not work as the requirement is a monthly income."

Either the web site is wrong or you misread it. The laws changed several years ago for marriage one year extension of stay and the current requirement is 400k in bank account for two months or 40k per month income.

Edit: The information on the web site link is not true in regard to financial requirements being combined income of 40k but the quoted portion has nothing to do with bank account in Thailand which is the requirement to use the 400k method.

Thanks for all your help.

I went to Chiang Mai immigration and they gave me a form. It's in Thai but I have attached it

Basically they want, (if you dont have the 400k), copy of work permit, salary contract that shows more than 40k / month

Tax receipts for the last 3 months

Company registration

Then you need 2 photos of you and your wife together. House photos not necessary.

Wife to go along with id card. Baby doesnt have to this time if you have.

House registration

Apparently thats all but TIT !! - I'll let you know how I get on!

A few minor queries, if I may, as I've got this thing coming up in a few months and have run into a few financial complications.

As to the 400k in the Thai AC, do the Regulations says it must be there for THREE or TWO months prior to application? Is there a possibility that if you have this balance for only 2 months, they could reject your application?

As to the 'Income' option, I read somewhere that this  'Income' can occur from your home country (being deposited into your bank account there), in which case an affidavit from the Embassy that this is indeed 'Income' will be enough for the Imm Cops. Is that correct??

.... And if this is so, is there any minimum period for which such 'income' movements in the bank account at home need to occur? Do the Embassies insuch cases kick up any fuss before granting the affidavit?

Thanks in advance.

In the case of them rejecting your application because the money hasn't been in the bank long enough you have the option of extending for 60 days on a "visit wife" basis. There is no financial requirement for this extension and then that will give your money enough time to season in the bank.

The regulations state that the 400,000 must be in the bank for 2 months before application.

However many Immigration Offices require it 3 months except the first application.

If income is from outside Thailand you need the letter from your Embassy to verify income.

Different Embassies have different rules as to what they accept.

Thank you for posting a copy of this information sheet. I have now added it to my album "Current stamps of visas, extensions, etc" with a link to your post:

I was going to extend my visa on the basis of marriage next month when my current 90 day non imm O entry stamp (and the visa) expires.

I just started work in August and therefore will only have August's and September's salary slips.

The visa section at work said that 2 months worth of salary slips was enough but this information contradicts this.

Is there anyone out there who knows if indeed 2 months of slips is enough?

cheers guys.

If I ended up having to do the 60 day wife extension, does that have to be done before the end of the 90 day stamp entry or before the expiry of the non immigrant O visa?

Posted

Yes it must be done before your permitted to stay expires and you lose nothing by doing a bit early so you have time to get any missing documents as start will be at the end of the current stay. The visa expiration is nothing more than an enter before date.

Posted

You can do it just before your current permission to stay ends.

Do you have a single entry non-O or a multiple? If a multiple, if you leave and re-enter just before the visa expires you get a new permission to stay of 90 days.

Is it necessary to bring one's wife along to Immigration?

We usually deposit our savings at a Teacher Saving Cooperation, because my wife's a teacher and we're satisfied about them.

Is it possible for me to deposit my 400k at an account in my name at our local Teacher Saving Cooperation (http://www.br-tsc.com/view.php?id=5)?

Will Immigration accept that?

If not what kind of accounts at which banks will be accepted?

For an extension of stay based on marriage it is vital that the misses goes with you, as she will be interviewed.

The account has to be in your name only! Can be a normal savings account, as long as you can access the money it should not be a problem.
