I couldn't resist putting this poll down.

How bloody cheesy and small minded some people can get.

A disappointment following reading many many interesting and eloquent, dare I say INTELLIGENT posting previously.

Very surprised about you Udon. Obviously you despise and dislike anyone with more leaning and qualifications than you. Me, I listen to everyone. I make tongue in cheek comments, but I always wait until I meet the person face to face before I make my final judgement. I would imagine you are a great bloke to meet, but your dislike to everything this man writes is akin to the petty squabbling between two political parties and is seriously clouding your obvious good personality. I read your PM with interest, but could find nothing wrong in the area you suggested.Sorry. However, I do agree with some members that this post is a pathetic attempt to get Thai visa members at each other throats in a not so jokeingly manner and should be stopped instantly, even though it's in Bedlam.

Anyway the only person I'm angry with this morning is Michael Vaughn and his teams pathetic attempts to play cricket.

That hardly comes under "despise and dislike"

Your imagination is running riot :o

Qualifications? you know nothing about my qualifications.. :D

Kayo, I don't understand your criticism of the post in the link you provided. Can you please explain more clearly what you see wrong here?

Chownah

I may be wrong with regard to TM but if he is trying to make the point that TV seems to have become rather insensitive in the last week or so, then I totally agree with him. Some posts, in my view, have become very homophobic and extremely racist in the extreme.

I’m really hurt.

I couldn’t sleep – members sensitivities have been wounded – some members are calling other members funny names – some may even refuse to speak to each other – drinking companions are arguing – there are sarcastic remarks flying backwards and forwards across the internet – even Yorkshire men have had their sexuality questioned – PMs are flashing across Thaivisa faster than an old man in Hyde Park – Gays of the right persuasion are devastated – homophobics have been seen crying – and WHY?

Because, as Lampy astutely points out, Michael Vaughn’s bunch have yet again made us loose face.

This I did/do mean honestly, for all those who criticize blindly.

It's all very childish and trivial to me... :D

I could go on, but then I'd be lowering myself to the same level... disappointing really.  :D

Fair enough

Kayo, I don't understand your criticism of the post in the link you provided.  Can you please explain more clearly what you see wrong here?

Chownah

No. Read it again chownah.

To all,

If the poll in question can be said to have been tongue in cheek, I would be prepared to retract this thread. If not, it would appear we have the fourth reich on our hands.

:o

PS: Good posts btw. Tots. :D

I would tell you but I never explain a joke. Think for yourself.

I'm not sure what you mean. A forum for fags only or homophobs only or what? Why all the postings about restricting access to the homo sections?

The most direct way to cure a phobia is often regarded as being a direct confrontation with aforementioned phobia.

ie:

Somebody who's afraid to fly should be made to fly.

Somebody who is afraid of spiders should be put in a room full of 'em.

Somebody who is afraid of gay people should be forced to spend a lot of time with gay people. The OP referred to another person posting his phobia's and his anger and not being allowed to express them... Or at least that is how I interpreted it.

Ho...

Ho...

...Hum! :o

I agree with the sentiments of the opening posting.

I would also like to take this opportunity to ask the various mods who may be reading this thread to consider whether or not it may be time to crack the whip again. The relaxed atmosphere here in Bedlam has led to a resurgence of homophobic remarks (most notably in the thread which this thread is discussing), which has also spilled over into the gay forum (see, for example, the current "Born Gay" thread) in an alarming way. Some people simply *will* keep trying to push until they are pushed back. I don't mind seeing bargirl threads and political threads and so forth here, but I hope Bedlam isn't going to become a slag-for-all zone.

i agree and although fatter than harry and myself created this bedlam forum a year ago to be unmoderated...come on people, the gay remarks/polls/topics are getting old.

personally i will never close threads in here or warn/suspend etc. because bedlam was created to be a free for all venting forum. so enjoy, but 'steven' does have a point.

And that thread was closed...., for that reason, and at the OP's request... :o

Are you saying that Thomas Merton's thread "A New Forum, What Do Yoy Think?

" contains homophobic remarks?

I don't see it. I have copied and pasted the entilre contents of the thread below:

-----------------------------------------------------------------

A New Forum, What Do Yoy Think?

----------------------------------

In this new forum, all of us real men can joke about the nonces without any liberals or fairies telling us to be PC.

-------------

I've always taken 'nonce' to be a slang term for paedophile? Perhaps you should clarify TM.

--------------

Thom, you are pushing the boundaries here. Please ease up on the gay thing mate. This thread is now closed.

------------------------------------------------------------------

This does not seem homophobic to me. Is this the thread you find objectionable?...it is the thread which is the topic of this thread as indicated in the original post.
