It just occurred to me today but can the 400k baht in the bank required for a marriage extension be used during the period after submitting your application prior to approval being given? Or do you have to wait for the approval to be granted? Anybody have any experiences? Cheers.

They used to check during period under review but have not seen any report of this since the change to 2/3 month in account requirement. But I would ask before doing just to be safe.

Thanks to you both.

LB you extend in Khon Kaen right? Same as me. I'll double check when I submit my application. I'll post the info here might help some people.

BTW do you know if KK immi are requiring that extra piece of marriage paperwork besides the marriage certificate that some immis are asking for? Sorry but the name escapes me for the moment.

I'm on my 4th Marriage visa extension this year. I'm up for extension in Oct. I just wanted to double check the money in the Bank issue. It has to be there for 2 months not 3 right? and are there any new changes this year to the visa requirements for a marriage visa (Non Imm O)? Thanks

With regard to the marriage extension. I' m three months away from renewing this for the first time.

First question: I know it's 400k in the bank for two months, or 40K a month income. But can you (like the retirement visa) add income and deposit together to make up the 400k?

Second question: When I changed from a retirement visa to a marriage visa last year, they needed a lot of information like house registration papers, marriage certificate, wife's ID, maps to the house, family photos, children's birth certificates etc. etc. ; and they also needed to visit the house. Will that be the same this time?

No you can not use joint bank account/income.

Bank account must also be in your name, no joint accounts.

Also no fund accounts, must be able to redraw money on same day.

Same paperwork as last time.

1. Application form T.M. 7 with one photograph size 4x6 cm. and Visa Fee 1900.-Baht

2. Copy Marriage Certificate

3. Copy Kor Ror 2 from amphur office

4. Child's birth certificate (if any)

5. Copy wife’s house registration

6. Copy wife’s identity card

7. Copy passport, non-Im visa, arrival card.

8. Interview the husband and wife for confirming status of husband and wife

9. Map to residency

10. Picture of house and family, in house and outside showing house number.

With money in bank option.

1. Letter from bank same day or day before stating bank records, make a transaction just before to get it up to date.

2. Bank account must be in Husbands name, joint accounts will not qualify.

With Income option

1. A copy of work permit

2. Personal Corporation income Tax (PND.1) in latest 3 months and personal income tax for previous year with receipt

Probably no house visit second time around.

All of the above in two copies

And you should check if two months will be accepted as some offices require 3 months if not the first application as is the requirement for retirement extension of stay.
