Forgot to add that the target market is an extension of the current market this place serves.... mid range 20-30 somethings. I won't say 'mostly locals' because that's like saying 'let the insults begin!'

I don't want to scroll through all the posts but I suppose (understand) that your friends' targets are the "better to do" mid range 20-30's Thai with the occasional "well to do" Farang visitors.

Is that correct, more or less?

If so, the audience would like to identify themselves with Mediterranean and Florida youngsters with cash who would like to visit the 100 best bars in the world*, next to some very exclusive beach outlets in the south of France like NIKKI BEACH in Saint Tropez**, or....

another example could be BUDDHA BEACH in Marbella***

Yeah, the name is set, and none of the TV names (nor my suggestions) were winners. I'd rather not mix business (even when it's not mine) with TV so I'm not going to say the name of the place. The main partner probably had her mine set on another name already.

My mate wanted to take over an existing sports bar that didn't have a 'theme' so he was aiming primarily at a baseball dugout affair called BSD's. For signage, there was this huge slugger character called Dick with a foreshortened baseball bat, hence the full name of "Big Swingin' Dicks". Regrettably, Harris County licencing authorities didn't see the parody, only the innuendo.
