Well since its a prescription drug the advice will be go to a doctor and get a prescription any advice other than that the thread will be closed as its a controlled drug even if it can be found from other avenues

Get caught with it on you and you will quickly find out that its a controlled substance.

I believe a few searches will show arrests for possession

Here are a couple of arrests to be going on with

Most of the pharmacies you talk about have signs written in Thai posted on the windows that say, mai mee wiagra.

I have bought a few rolex watches from the footpath stalls you mention, I am under no illusions as to what I actually bought.

I certainly wouldnt be ingesting who knows what, that some Somchai knocked up in his back kitchen just because it says Kamagra on the box.

I did some research on this a few weeks ago. Seems it is made in India and is not an actual prescription drug. It is banned in the US and is on it's drug watch for being imported. Problem is, you never know exactly what dose is in each pill. As opposed to REAL viagra, which is properly manufactured...and as opposed to FAKE viagra, which is also manufactured in India...and looks exactly like the real thing. I know as I bought some in India years ago as a joke. Like $3 for 20 pills.

Do some searches on the internet to verify this...

it's strange that Kamagra is a prescription only tablet thatyou say is illegal but this is basically a sex country which the police turn a blind eye to so why not turn a blind eye to Kamagra, this really is amazing Thailand.

Kamagra is just like Viagra...uses the same ingredient. But! It is made in India. And has not been approved for import into the USA by the FDA. Why? Probably just because it has not been tested yet. In India, they don't respect patents. So, they copy some drugs and release them at a fraction of the cost for the patented drugs.

Viagra requires a prescription, but can be easily bought all over Thailand. Of course, same goes for pot, yaba, etc. And some of these dealers are actually the police!

by the way, indian manufacturers (there are several) do not produce "fake" Viagra. they produce under various names some "medication" which contains the same ingredient like Pfizer's Viagra, namely sildenafil citrate. that ingredient is so cheap to produce that the "illegal" manufacturers can beat Pfizer's price multiple times and still generate very high profits. fact is that the profit margin of Viagra et al is higher than producer/street price of cocaine and heroin.

Pfizer admitted some time ago publicly that the packing of its Viagra is several the cost of its content. anything like "not manufactured properly" and "you don't know what the dose..." is nothing but baseless speculation.

For sure not in QC at Pfizer. But they were my customer and I spent many days with them on a variety of projects. I lived in NYC was the global contact for them for many years. I was also the global rep for J&J. I was the local rep for Sanofi as well as Novartis. So...I know a bit about these companies. But for sure, was never part of their R&D team.

I personally bought tablets labeled "Viagra" and looking exactly like the real ones in India. I would call these fake as the real Viagra is from Pfizer, and if I am not mistaken, the patent is still in effect...expiring at different dates in various places around the world. But for sure when I was in India in 2003, the patent was still in effect.

We could get into a discussion of patents, R&D costs, etc. But that is off topic. These companies spend HUGE amounts of money on R&D...not all of it pays off...big money is lost on medicines that never make the grade. Viagra was a gold mine for sure. And the profits are being used to research more drugs....as well as pay for the costs of failed meds.

Do some research on black market drugs. You will find out the manufacturing processes do not guarantee exact dosages in each pill. And with this type of med, as it is already somewhat dangerous for some people, it could be a real problem. These facts are widely known...and for sure not speculation.

there is speculation and there is assumption. "widely known" and transferred to (in this case) specific prescription drug is an assumption without evidence. it is correct that Pfizer's rights are violated by the manufacturers of the generic drug as Pfizer was clever enough to protect its rights. wrong is to speak of R&D because sildenafil citrate was neither invented nor developed by Pfizer. no matter what the claims are, the drug "existed" and was initially marketed for a different medical purpose. "the other" effect :) was discovered by patients and their medics who informed Pfizer.

a few years ago one of the indian producers admitted that they were cost cutting by manufacturing the "100mg" tablet with a varying dose of minimum 100 and maximum 108mg, a variance which is neither dangerous nor unacceptable but reduces manufacturing cost considerably.

worthwhile to add is that all multinational corporations manufacture themselves and have drugs manufactured since decades by subcontractor indian companies who know how to manufacture "properly".

1. "Kamagra" is a brand name and it is not licensed for import into Thailand. So anyone selling it has either gone to extra time, trouble and expense to sneak it into the country OR it's a fake. Leave it to you to figure out which is more probable.

2. Sildenefil, the generic name for what is contained in Kamagra and also in Viagra, is avialble in Thailand under brand name Viagra (an expensive import, and reported to have counterfeit versions about) and under a locally made brand called Elonza. Haven't heard anything re counterfeit Elonza, and it will cost less than (real) Viagra.

3. Whatever brand name, sildenafil is a prescription-only drug in Thailand. Every country makes its own laws regarding what drugs can and cannot be sold without prescription. regardless of what the law may be elsewhere, in Thailand all forms of sildenafil require a prescription. Over the counter sales are illegal for both buyer and seller. And as FBN says, farang have been arrested for this. I have also heard if "stings" operating wherein drug stores openly sell it and then police pounce on the customer and demand a bribe under threat of arrest.

I vehemently disagree with you. I have seen the copy viagra drugs. These products are distinguished by the out of date monographs and the lack of active molecules. I am a big believer in generic drugs, However, there is a significant difference with some manufacturing techniques to the point that although the bioavailability/bioequivalency of some drugs is similar the drugs are not identical. It's all about the manufacturing technique. that is why the only guaranteed identical generics are those manufactured under license using the same active molecules.and formulation. Look at it this way. I can put 10 g of titanium down on a desk and I can put 10 g of titanium dental screws next to it. What do you think will be more effective when used with dental implants? The titanium is the same. Identical. However, the process of transformation made them very different. Most of the Viagra circulating in Thailand that is not scripted out of reputable pharmacies is bogus crap.

Bogus crap that can, and does, kill people....but then again, people die from the "real" stuff also! :(

so you disagree with me because you have "seen" copy drugs? isn't there an old saying in your native language "the proof is in the pudding?" once you "vehemently" tried the copy and you don't feel any "vehement" results both of us can "vehemently" discuss and "vehemently" agree to disagree.
