Fluoride In The White Bottle Water

Featured Replies

The phuket forum might be the one with the most science nerd. (not derogatory, im saying this in a positive way)

Fortunately i should get a good answer!

Im talking about the really cheap clean water, the one delivered at your door.

Is there enough fluoride in it to protect from tooth decay?

There is enough fluoride in it to stop you getting sick and the water is safe to use if you buy it from the right vendor.

If you want to know if there is enough fluoride in it to protect your teeth you will have to pay to have it checked out yourself

Hi

I have stopped using that crap many years ago (at least the water i got was bad) when i used it in a electric kettle you could see the kettle got some <deleted> around on the inside, that time i think it was 9 Baht for a bottle, dont know now but how good water do you get for that, i use bottle water now, mineral water for drinking and drinking water for food, and for my coffee, was told by Bon Cafe to use drinking water as there is no,, minerals in it so it will not get lime scale, they was right, not a problem so far.

white bottle taste a lot better than the purified bottled water. I do miss the real bottled water(from a real natural source)

I was only asking for my kid's teeth though. We eat farang food mostly so we get all our vitamins and mineral from nutritious expensive food.

No

There is no evidence that flouride in water protects your teeth from decay. I suggest you broaden your outlook by a Google on the subject

Just start brushing your teeth with a toothpaste containing flouride. Problem solved.

I did not say Flouride protects your teeth from decay if added to water.

I said it kills germs and bacteria in the water and makes it safe to drink

I suggest you read what i posted

Sorry I quoted the wrong post I was answering the OP's original question.

I am not sure that Flouride has anything to do with killing bacteria either except it may help to make them more docile and brain dead:D

Generally, kllling germs and bacteria is the excuse for adding Chlorine to water

i see thai kid's teeth and the teeth of children in my country (even those who don't brush) and there's a huge difference.

fluoride DOES protect from a lot of stuff.

Also it'S really bad to give fluoride toothpaste to kids, they swallow it.

Fluoride is not added to drinking water to kill germs and bacteria, and there is no evidence that it is effective for that purpose. It is added to reduce tooth decay in consumers. The main mechanism by which it does this is by strengthening tooth enamel and reducing the acid produced by bacteria. (Some people dispute whether it is actually effective for cavity reduction - but that is a separate argument.)

See http://www.ada.org.a...fln/flfaqs.aspx for a detailed discussion.

The main method used to disinfect drinking water is chlorination:

and

Whether or not there is enough fluoride in bottled water to give cavity protection depends on the source of the water.

See http://archpedi.ama-.../full/161/5/457

Some water filters also remove some fluoride from fluoridated water.
