Visitors flock to Ha Noi for 1,000th birthday

Ha Noi is expected to receive 800,000 local and foreign visitors for its 1,000th anniversary celebrations but some hotels still claim they will not be full since it is the tourism low season.

They said in the last few years the number of visitors coming in October has fallen considerably, while they expanded to prepare for the influx of travellers expected during the celebrations.

Hoa Binh Hotel has a lot of rooms left, its manager said earlier this week.

Melia Hotel, too, promised there will be no shortage of rooms.

However, Doan Thi Thanh Tra, head of Saigontourist Travel Service Company's Marketing Division, said it has become rather difficult to get rooms now.

when I left Hanoi to work out at site in the provinces in late July there were banners and signs everywhere to advertise the festival...now I find that the festivities start 10 October...better book them hotel rooms now folks, if they got any left...
