^Ahh so you live in CM and do not even live in Pattaya? Well that explains as much - your opinion is completely worthless.

How is the Spotlight Bar these days? :whistling:

Could not even name a single bar in the place and never even seen a sex worker crawling the streets of Chiangmai. Have been to afew bars in CM but never seen a working girl in them I guess CM is nothing like Pattaya.

It is because of the stigma and what Pattaya is renown for that I would never take my family there I love my kids to much. I think you should change your comment to a Significant MINORITY.

No worries we won't let it out that you frequent Pattaya every day mate. Enjoy!!!

Answer me seriously. Would you personally expose your young children to ladyboys, sex workers and the sex tourists who flock to Pattaya. As a parent would you seriously do that?

^sure why not, can't hide children from the realities of day to day life.

Of course you never seen any working ladies in CM? (funniest thing you have said yet) Guess you also forgot about the gaggles of ladyboys too. B)

Cut him a little slack. He's married. I have lived in Chiang Mai and Pattaya. It is rough to get some on the side in Pattaya. Somebody always sees you and tells the wife. Chiang Mai is a lot easier to grab a bit of strange. And the large amount of willing uni girls make it almost a married guys paradise. And for freebies Chang Mai eclipses Pattaya.

For a lot of married players negatively effected by the current strong baht Chiang Mai might be the place.

And if you are ready to come out of the closet, not that the poster is but Chiang Mai is the place to be.

A pretty thai girl is not pretty when she's just after your wallet. They're just scum. No beauty in that...at all. It just shows where some guy's brain is. That's why Pattaya is known as 'the toilet of thailand.'

Spreading clichées like this, I wonder if you have ever been to Thailand and to Pattaya? And if you have been, then I wonder why did you come? Who gave you the right to call working ladies in Thailand scum? It says a lot about you and I wish you would stay away. We don't need your "besserwisser" attitude and narrow mind here.

I have to agree that lots of 'girls', you can't call them ladies, are chasing after your wallet. The "I love you handsome man", I go with you" had obviously worked for you as we can see.

"Working ladies", selling their bodies and many of them on Jaba isn't what many of us like.

I've read your post and came to the conclusion that you've to be a newbie staying at Naklua, the "German area", right?

I wish you stay away from the place I'd chosen to live.

We don't need your 'wiseacre' attitude, not mentioning your mind. Looks like you haven't been here for too long.

Pattaya should be divided into zones, like Thaksin did with the South a couple of years ago.......................

Again, I've to agree that it all shows what's inside some guy's brain........................:jap:

Yes, “ein Besserwisser” = German for “a know-all”.

oh no, we come to pattaya for the shops and the haute cuisine...

Understood. However, my feeling is that the beach promenade should be a pleasant place for everyone, including the many families we now DO have here in great abundance. The prostitutes are so thick there that they soil what should be the most important geographical feature of any urban beach resort. There are still hundreds of thousands of prostitutes available anytime within mere minutes of the beach road promenade.

I agree These prostitutes are giving all those nice bar girls a bad name

I guess Jingthing tried to be sarcastic about those families, unless he is talking about Russians.

Seriously I would not expose a young child to Thailand anywhere! I have a married daughter who wanted to come visit and I forbade her from bringing her husband or children.

I would even question the advisability of a man under the age of 50 visiting Thailand.

I think there are numerous women who read this forum that would advise against men of any age visiting Thailand.

Yes, please get rid of them post haste. They are generally an unappealing sight that does no good for Pattaya's image and many are aggressive and rude too, not to mention the pick pockets. There are plenty of places in Pattaya people who want to find hookers of all three sexes can find them without letting them parade in the street and be a nuisance to those who have no interest in their services.

What image ? ???

Everyone knows Pattaya is the cesspool of Thailand that attracts the worst types of farang and Thai

If people are not interested in the sex for sale image of Pattaya they would visit many of the beautiful areas of Thailand

People who go to Pattaya do not go for the dirty beaches there they go for the dirty women and ladyboys

Don't forget the dirty men. Would not want to leave out our gay brothers. Most gay guys don't like lady boys, you know.

If they left the footpaths free of motorbikes, Indian tailor touts and stalls selling rubbish it would make more sense. Families are never hassled by the working girls, why would they. "Families" complaining means wifey who is worried that the moment her back is turned Hubby is going to Soi 6 for a short time. People who come to Pattaya and compalin about prostitutes are the same people who buy cheap next to an airport and then try to have it shut down.

I completely agree that the girls and the "other" gender make it a point to avoid families and couples. This is a professional courtesy that is appreciated by few. This courtesy often goes overlooked by hateful, ignorant people, who get their thoughts clouded by things that they imagine (in their feeble minds) that are going on (still, and only in their feeble minds), rather than taking a good look around at the happy people enjoying a beautiful day. Letting it go would never cause a decrease in crime, but sure would improve spirits along the footpath.

With the police, I am convinced that it is an arrangement between them and the prostitutes. I believe these actions are business, and nothing more; a sort of yin and yang. I do not think there is anything personal. As the gangster said to the other gangster, "Eh, it ain't poisenal, it's business!"

On the other hand, I believe that if an ignorant person came here and walked down Beach Road, he would feel pretty great with all the lady attention, smiles, "I go with you", etc. It is a small thing, but a great boost to a man's ego, and admittedly a feel good thing. No different than McDonalds employees saying hello to you, with a smile, or a 5 star resort leaving mints on your pillow. Just like changing the channel on the tube, no one has a gun to anyone's head, and the choice to walk on by, or a polite "no" is all it takes.

Then there are the people who can not let go. They see an evil world out there, instead of happy people on the Beach Road. These people can not sleep at night, because they know in their knower that someone; yes someone, just might be engaging in illegal and consensual sex. It is enough to make one go mad. Perhaps they might consider a vacation to a sister beach-resort city in, say, Brazil, to see how the other gender copes with the terrible things us men have to cope with here. Imagine being in Brazil and having a lot of handsome young men, and female transsexuals "badgering and harassing" the foreign women, as they enjoy a Beach Road sunset?

It's easy to come here, to this den of iniquity, and paint one side of the coin black, but for the gender complaints, and the ones who support each side, there are two sides to the gender coin.Let's be even handed here. If there was zero prostitution here, I am sure the police would find something else to crack down on, but as a matter of "business" and not "personal" only.

Did you ever visit Brazil and say Copacabana ?

I did and I can assure you that Thailand (apart from the crackdown on the red shirts, etc.) and Pattaya are very safe and peaceful places compared to it.

And even most Thai katoeys are choir boys compared to Brazilian travelos.

That's interesting. I guess they didn't read the poll done here, which revealed a significant majority of Thaivisa members, Pattaya residents and not, APPROVED of keeping the famous street walkers on Pattaya Beach Road. Although I disagreed, they seemed to think they were actually the main TOURIST ATTRACTION in town.

Is this a new policy or another one off crackdown?

" revealed a significant majority of Thaivisa members, Pattaya residents and not, APPROVED of keeping the famous street walkers on Pattaya Beach Road".

Are you saying that a significant majority of Thaivisa members and Pattaya residents approve of the sex tourism industry in Pattaya? That is insulting. I am sure that the significant majority of thai visa members would not go within 50 kms of the place out of fear of being branded sexual predetors, gutter crawlers or pedophiles. Those that do go there well up to them they have thier sexual preferences and so be it. We are not all the same on here some of us are respectable family members with children. It is because of the stigma and what Pattaya is renown for that I would never take my family there I love my kids to much. I think you should change your comment to a Significant MINORITY.

I live in Patts and I do not care about your narrow-minded politically correct opinion.

Answer me seriously. Would you personally expose your young children to ladyboys, sex workers and the sex tourists who flock to Pattaya. As a parent would you seriously do that?

A question that pushes this far, usually puts the questioner in the opposite far corner. To think that it is possible that one protects their child from the truth of what is reality, and keeps them in the dark, is certain to lead to disaster when the youth goes looking for answers himself (or herself), because daddy's (or mommy's) Puritan views about human beings excludes the entire human race. You make the truth sound like a disease. Perhaps you are simply afraid of providing a simple answer to the child who asks, "Why daddy?"

Once in that evil environment that you paint in my imagination, I submit that a child will only see a woman that looks glamorous, or a bit masculine. He will see men who look funny because they have messy hair, or smell funny. A child will see people milling about, or sitting on funny looking high chairs (without the food tray) and drinking from tall glasses that have a pretty looking, gold colored liquid in it, and perhaps a few people acting a bit like cartoon characters.

A child will certainly not have the viewpoint that you reveal unless that viewpoint is put there without giving the reasons why. Then he will grow up and cast stones and not have a clue as to why.

Yes! I will take my son places, and in the event there are evil transgenders there, he will get exposed to them. I will even teach him to treat them with the respect they deserve, and to smile and be nice, and explain to him that some people just want to be the way they are, and that is the way things are. That goes the same for the evil sex workers, and evil sex tourists and other mysterious, evil sex people who lurk around corners and live under the stairs.

"The Truman Show"

Incidentally, just where, exactly, are you referring to, for the location that a child would have to be in order to be witness to such evil people doing evil things, and have permanent damage burned into his or her memory? I know of no such places during the day, and anyways, my son will be in bed at a reasonable time. Your views do not make sense to me.

I have to agree. The beach is the most valuable real estate in the city tourist-wise, and last time I was there, the hookers there made it pretty much impossible to have a leisurely stroll along the beach without being hassled and basically having it all in your face. There are plenty of places for hookers to hang out to find their customers, and wherever they are, the customers will find them. The beach is just too valuable to cede it to the hookers.

No apology on my side here. Just an opinion. It's what i've seen and many others here have seen and experienced in Thailand. No, maybe not ALL, what you call 'working ladies' are scum. However it's common knowledge that quite a few are very deceitful and NOT mama's good little girl.

I lived in Pattaya for three years. I got robbed three times, wallet, two cell phones. The first cell phone was by a trinket salesman while I was sitting at a bar no where near Beach Road. The wallet and second cell phone were by two middle aged women dressed like farmers on a Baht bus during a rain storm at 2 in the afternoon. Both times I was completely sober and no where near a bar girl, freelancer or lady boy.

You all should get this straight. Pattaya is not the cesspool or toilet of Thailand the Gulf off of Pattaya is the cesspool or toilet of Thailand. Raw sewage from everywhere flows into the Gulf where the Russian and Indian families swim.

You see these buttons all over Pattaya. Any truth to the rumor that the cops were wearing them?

All cops at the east- coast are wearing them already. Just a matter of time that we can see them at every bitches, aeehh sorry beaches.:jap:

I notice they only talk about a crackdown on 'freelance' prostitutes, not those in the brothels and bars. I wonder why this is? Nothing to do with tea-money I'm sure.
