daveh
I just tried donating blood in the US. However, because I visited Phuket less than a year ago, I am ineligible to donate. They claim Phuket has a risk of malaria. Bangkok, however, is fine. Since my wife and I visit Thailand and Phuket about once per year, this makes me perpetually ineligible. What are the eligibility requirements of donating blood in Thailand? Can people on visitor visas do it? (Don't laugh, I can imagine some bureaucrat claiming it's a form of volunteer work and requires a work permit and visa.)
rikki
I dot know the rules, but I went to red cross last week to donate, they said I could not that day, because I had alcohol the night before, but I was welcome to walk in and donate any time. They didnt ask about my visa
camerata
The Red Cross in Thailand doesn't care about your residency status but they have the usual checklist for you to fill in. If you lived in the UK in the 1980s they may not want your blood (mad cow disease).
