In Sweden we call it "ice hockey hairdo", and there is even a famous song about the phenomenon. Not sure of the tones for both though. wâang = free, available, off [work] ... falling tone, long vowel sound wang+ = to hope ...rising tone, short vowel sound Two different words. Remember the tones and vowel lengths are phonemic (distinguish between completely different words).
