Advice on supporting family please
I have been happily married to my thai wife for 18 years. During all this time i have of course financially supported her mother in sisaket who has been looked aftet by elder sister. Last week mum sadly passed and it now seems that i am required to support eldest sister as she has dedicated her life to looking after mum. She is now 64 has never been married and has no children. The village is small and their ismt really any prospect of her working.. she is younger than me...should i now be supporting her until one of us dies. Opinions please -

I think changes to the Revenue Code and Thai Tax law is part of TRD's remit, they are a part of the permanent civil service infrastructure that has to deal with things on an ongoing basis, after ministers have come and gone. -

Trump, a case of Malignant Normalcy (besides the "normal" Malignant Narcissim)
There are some strange bedfellows (literally!) in US politics. Number one on my list is Carville and his wife. Second would be Conway and Kellyanne, but the caveat there is 10+ years ago they were on the same team. And then of course there are ones we never hear of at all, but there are a few that get whispered, Like Bill Maher and Ann Coulter: from what little I've seen of either of them she is the one influencing him. I never took her seriously, the first time I saw her was about a month after 9/11 and she was saying something like "all swarthy men should be deported anyway, I mean like YUCK!" I thought it was a comic bit, like Suzie Sorority of the Silent Majority from the old SNL. Not long after the 2016 election Rachel Maddow had Kellyanne on her nightly show for the purpose lauding her for being the first woman campaign manager to get a president elected. The following night Ms. M raged about how Kellyanne lied to her on air and she will never be on her show again; I heard her say this on air, but I don't recall reading it mentioned on the news sites. -

Are You A Sexpat Or Do You Ride The Backwards Morality Train?
I am like a lot of posters on this forum, a senior, who escapes the cold Winter of their homeland. In my case Canada. I like the tropical weather of Thailand, as well as a lot of the food, the banking system is okay compared to Central America countries, and even mexico. Big plus is the cost of accomadation is much better. -

It seems that many people believe in climate alramists. There is lots of places in Phuket that are far above sea level, as are many of the roads. If drainage is improved in the parts of Phuket that flood after a big storm, the whole situation would improve. Global warming is affecting all of the world and not just Thailand. update to 24 H2 didn't work
I'm running Win 10 Home edition, which (legitimately) came with this laptop in 2016; my hardware also is incompatible with 11. After that fiasco earlier this year I restored from a previous backup and have avoided updates since. I'm a software engineer (retired) so I understand that mistakes do happen, but the corrupted updates is colossal egg-on-the-face. I intend to switch to Linux at some point (the dual-boot stuff is in place) but it's work, and I'm enjoying my lazy lifestyle. I have the impression MS has been deliberately slowing down Win10 via updates as a further boot in the arse to get with 11. The only way I'm going to do that is if this laptop dies and I buy another with a legit 11 license. -

As others have said, if you are there more than 180 days the onus is probably on you to file. It would be better to file even if you don't think you have to rather than having to deal with what may happen if you don't.- 1

world wide income taxation update
Minimal paperwork, as in, hard copy actual pieces of paper. The Immigration computer data base already knows about everyone's in, and out, of Thailand, including Thai's. They know the 180 days inside Thailand. I am simply suggesting they will put their hand out for "something." That's all. For high net worth individuals, Thai and farang, they MAY have a closer look at, but for most, it may simply be paying the TRD for a document come extension time.
