Nathon Festival Is Here Again

Featured Replies

Just to let people know that the Nathon festival is back again. Some good food, music and market here till the 8th. Lets hope the weather doesn't spoil it too much over the next few days. Well worth a look if you are at a loss for something to do. ;)

Such festivals are nice indeed. Only the food is always the same. Mostly greasy Thai fast food and typical Thai standard food like Fried Rice, Hoi Tod, Som Tam etc. :boring:

Its called Chak Phra and is a festival unique to the South. The one in Surat is quite famous but its not about food, but about "carrying the Buddha image" and is a major local community event where the Buddha image is carried to the sea. There are also teams of locals in boat races and quite alot of good fun. however, it looks like the storm will put paid to that. Pity, its one of my favorite local festivals.

They managed to do the Buddha run the first day no problem. The rain at the moment is spoiling it. A pity as it is a good festival. :D
