LG recently made a new addition to its smart phone series called "Optimum One".

The following are some of its salient features:

- Froyo 2.2 (Android Platform 2.2)

- Touchscreen, 262K TFT, 3.2"

- Resolution 320X480(HVGA),

- Bluetooth 2.1

- USB 2.0 HS

- A-GPS/GPS

- Wi-Fi hot Spot & USB Tethering

- Accelerometer (Don't know what's this)

- Battery-1,500mAh

- MSM7227 (Processor 600MHz)

- Camera 3MP,AF

- 113.5*59*13.3mm, 129gm

- Free 8GB Card.................and other basic features of Audio/Video, messaging,

I am not much familiar with smart phones but I need one with a wide display to enjoy youtube, web-surfing and even watching movies(MP4).

Now under a promotion, i am getting this phone at a price of 8,000 THB (Employees price)

I am analyzing more famous brands like Blackberry or HTC offering same features/spec. but at a premium

As I understand Blackberry's Storm and Torch series matches with my requirements.

Any exact Blackberry's model matching closely with LG Optimus One and its approx. price?

Thanks in advance

The accelerometer is mostly used by the phone to figure out which way you are holding it (going from landscape to portrait display).

The choice of smartphone really depends on what you want to do with it.

In Europe and US, BBs are mostly used for corporate purposes: quite sturdy, longer battery life (because smaller screen) and efficient email system (mails are "pushed" to your phone in real-time, physical keyboard is very appreciated by "older" people). However, BBs in Thailand are popular among young people for their Instant Messaging feature. There's not so many applications on BB and the music/movies playing is not the best.

Android-Based phones offer more flexible and evolution opportunities, although quality of the phone will really depend on the manufacturer. Movie playback is nice on widescreens. The interface is not as polished as on the Iphones but you can get a very good deal for the middle-level devices. There's almost any application you are looking for and if you are using Google services (like Gmail) it will be extremely easy to setup and integrate with your everyday communications. Because of the size of the screens, battery life will be shorter.

HTC models seem to be among the best for Android.

I guess in your case the third option (Iphone) is not really considered so I'll skip that.

Hope it helped.

If you have the money, get an iPhone 4. Web surfing and movies are fantastic thanks to the retina display - there's no going back from that. The iPhone 4 has more pixels on the screen than even the humongous 5" "phones", and all in a handy 3.2". The only reason to get a physically bigger screen would be if you have bad eyesight - but even then, the larger screen will show less.

But - 8000 baht seems like a very good deal for this LG. Are you an LG employee?

I'm at the Thai mobile expo. i'm seeing these units at 8300 and maybe lower if you negotiate at each LG booth (one area, but different LG vendors) + 2GB +8GB + case + net sim card 300 MB + navigation + car charger. I was doing some last minute comparsions on the laptop before I purchased and I narrowed it down to the Wellcom A99, LG optimus One, and the Samsung Galaxy cooper. I talked the cooper down to 9100 and after that, it was only accessory extras (she eyed the price sheet). So i figured I hit the floor on the profit margin :)

The optimus 2x and optimus black were on display, but unavailable for sale. One agent said appx 20,000.
