I moved to Chiang Mai about 6 weeks ago and been pursuing a teaching job. I have a TEFL and a bachelors degree, however, have only gotten offered a job at one language school that offers few hours and has many cancellations. Does anyone know another school in CM that's hiring? I'm getting desperate to pick up a second job. Let me know if you have any advice!

Your looking at a bad time, since most schools will be fully staffed. There is generally some turn over--people leaving for a variety of reasons, people occasionally being discharged etc.

Be sure and drop your resume/CV off at as many schools as you can and try and see the person in charge of hiring, or get a phone number. Don't bug them excessively, but do check periodically.

If you can find other teachers you might be able to do some networking.

We have some teachers from your area and hopefully they will be along and can give you some concrete advice.

Best of luck.

Wachirawit School, behind Carrefoure are desperate for teachers right now. They have 3 positions. Their offering around 23000 for 14 hrs teaching.

You need to go see them.

Hey, Stephania, this from Darkman is an Amazing break at this time of year!

Not to mention Amazing money by local standards for your quals.

Visit them immediately.

PS: I know you can't help being American, but do drop 'gotten', the ugliest word in the world,(and indeed the 'got': there are a multiple of better expressions), and if I ever see you starting a sentence with 'Like in.....', instead of 'As in.....' well, I'll just have to send the lads round.

More seriously (just a tad!), like, errrr, welcome and good luck.

Insulting an individual's cultural identity is probably not the most effective way to offer constructive criticism

I think the poster was being sarcastic rather than insulting. Regardless, he did give useful advice and if he was sincerely anti-American my guess he wouldn't have been so helpful.

At any rate, all helpful suggestions to the OP are welcome.

It's called humour :) and it's usually quite effective. Obviously this depends on the recipient having a sense of it........ humour, that is.

I thought he was being sardonic rather than sarcastic :whistling: .
