I never ride a motorcycle because I'm uncoordinated, inattentive, clumsy and accident prone. Getting on a bike would be an invitation to disaster. Starting the thing up and actually trying to go somewhere on it would be even worse.

TIA

So am I. That helps me fit in with the rest of the motoring mob in Thailand. Precision and skill can get you killed out there. :o

We have a Honda Sonic which is the main form of transport....

I have to ride it everywhere with my wife as passenger unless we are in Kalasin itself, then she insists on "driving", something about being scared... :o

totster :D

Have a Honda 150 RR and rebuilding a Kawasaki 900 Eliminator now, but use public transport whenever going into the big city. It's easier to do it that way, for me anyway. I'll be glad when the big girl is finished as I feel safer riding that.

I'm in category D.

I'd rather have 4 walls of steel and glass around me than risk life and limb on a motopsyche... :o

Been a biker since the age of dot. My 5 and 6 year olds both ride too now.

Currently have an ancient Honda 750 Custom, (previously belonging to Ajarn.) Most bricks drive and particularly corner better with more acceleration and stopping power, but there is nothing to compare with the wind in the face and the freedom experienced. Previous bikes were Kwakker ZZR11 and Honda ST11 Pan European. I miss the Pan European.

Most of the time however I drive an eccentric, somewhat unique 1960s Jeep. Room for the whole family with shopping etc.

Maybe off-topic a bit, but I am constantly amazed by the number of Thais that cram onto the same motopsyche... expecially in the morning on the way to school... :o

It seems almost like a game... "how many can we cram on today..." :D

My record count is 5 on the same motopsyche... :D

/Edit - just found this which is worth a laugh whilst reading this thread.

:D

Not quite... heading north on Highway 2 to KK turn right about 10 km before Phon, and then about 15 km east... near Pra Thai.

/Edit - and just to keep it on topic... everyone rides motopsyches there.

Can't listen to music on a bike.

Not true. Difficult on a small bike, but my old ST used to have a full CD stereo and radio setup in the top-box. It was also fitted with intercom and radio walkie talkie to communicate with pillion passengers and other bikes when touring together. It worked well, even at at speeds of over 125/130 mph we could talk in normal tones. (Mic and headphone speakers fitted inside the helmet with velcro.)

I've ridden and raced bikes since I was about 11 years old. I've owned a few big sport-touring bikes in Australia, but I'm content to cruise around here on the Mrs's scooter.

I don't think that I'd enjoy a big bike here, too many idiots on the road.

I really get in to my music and always found the that set up like that just didn't sound as good as in a car.

Not since I had a wee accident late at night about 15 years ago in northern Cambodia.

Ended up in a dry river bed (thankfully no water.. :D ) and later got my ear re attached to the head bit by the light of an oil lamp....Indian Doc...thanks ....plus othjer bits and loads of stitches all over. :D Looked a right mess.

Almost a week before i could manage a wet one :o:D

Last trip from Bangers to Trat in car passed too many dead bodies (mostly kids)splattered on the road to ever really reconsider again.... :D

the locals at hubbys town (not far from u jai dee, amphur phon, howdee neighboureeno :D) found it fascinating that I was able to ride the motosy & even more amazed that I was actually quite good at it too. :o I don't find it dangerous to ride a bike in LOS but then I veiw every single other thing on the road as a complete idiot & adjust my driving accordingly :D

someone sang

'I don't wanna pickle

just wanna ride on my motorcyyyy

cul...'

useta love bombin' down the road on a friend's Sportster...now I'm afraid of goin' down the sebben elebben on a 90 cc...

I used to ride dirt bikes when I was a kid up until the age of 17 when I started to have a lot of wrecks - my old man took me aside one day and convinced me I wern't gonna live to see 21 if I didn't give 'em up.

Will get a Wave when we move back permanent though... :o

me an' ole Boon Mee...couple of middle aged has beens in rural Suphanburi...

We'll still be able to tear up that Food Court at Tescos though, tutsi! :o

Come on Mikey. You're coordinated enough to ride your new bicycle all around Korat, so surely just adding a motor to it wouldn't be that much different.

As you know I prefer riding motorcycle and I go anywhere/everywhere via the motorcycle. Trips to Bangsaen, Pattaya, Nong Khai, Udon, Chang Mai. Never rode a motorcycle until I came to Thailand in 1990. It was "love at first sight". Have a truck and drive it only when I have to...ie. wife wants to go shopping in Korat.

Ah, Ken, if only that were true. I am just too clumsy to ride a motorbike. I spill something at least once daily. Why, just before coming back to the computer I got up off a bench and knocked my coffee cup to the ground with my flailing leg and spilled coffee everywhere and broke the cup to bits.

Embarrassing, really.

:o
