Comehome Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Hi! Do you know if it is possible to change the name of the father in a Thai Birth certificate? And also his nationality? My husband and also father of our daughter has dual nationality. Is it possible and if it is, how do we do it? Any help much appreciated! Comehome
Mario2008 Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Normally that is not possible, unless there is an incorrect spelling or such. But this is not something I'm sure about. Regardless of the nationality mentioned on the birth certificate, the father remains the father with both his nationalities. The name change and nationality of the father should only make a difference if one of the nationalities of the father doesn't allow dual citizenship and you want to keep the other nationality a secret.
GooEng Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 the answer to this is yes and no. when my first son was born my wife and i were separated and when she registered his birth she gave him a thai first name and her surname. soon after the birth we got together again and then went to the local amphur to see what we could do about getting his name changed. they allowed his surname to be changed and my name to be added to the birth cetificate when i declared myself the father, but would under no circumstances allow us to change his first name. (his mum and i are now happily married:))
