Hub Or Switch Or ?

Featured Replies

I have 3BB 8M/1M Internet service and use a "Billion 5210S RC Dual-Port ADSL2+ Modem/Router" that has one Ethernet port.

A friend will be visiting for a few days and has a laptop. I would like his laptop and my desktop computers to be able to access the Internet at the same time from that one Ethernet port.

Do I need a switcher, a hub or ??? Specific suggestions on something that would be available at TukCom would be appreciated.

Assuming that anything that could go wrong will go wrong, what complications might arise?

THANKS.

A switch. The small ones usually have 5 ports, cost about B800. Get a name brand like Surecom (had one of these for years, works great), Dlink, Linksys, etc. Avoid off brands like TP-link (toilet paper link).

Just in case anyone else in Pattaya using 3BB has the same issue:

I sent my friend over to Tukcom with the information supplied. The only switch he could find was a five-port SMC Networks model for ฿600.

Just plugged it in and switched on the router and everything is working perfectly. Thanks again for the information.

The 5210S has 2 ports - 1 Lan and the other USB. just connect you friends computer to the USB port and install the software that came with the modem.
