Computer stuff = Pantip Plaza

Some good clothing in MBK Center - but also worth checking out the big Chatuchak weekend market for bargains.

For general merchandise, I like Penang Market, Klong Toey.

Take the subway to Queen Sirikit and the walk south, just past Rama IV Road.

Sampeng Lane, Chinatown, is a great place if you want to buy bulk.

It runs parallel to, and just south of, Yaowarat Road (Chinatown's main street).

Penang Market, and the Klong Toey area, is where a lot of the pallets that "got lost" on the loading dock wind up.

Lots of Malaysian packaged foods.

You might find just about anything there.

Penang market? Where is that?

Best place for Mobiles is MBK, national stadium skytrain station, walk into the Tokyu dept store, go up to the 5th (?) floor. It is all mobiles as far as the eye can see. Pantip for computers can also be reached by taking the skytrain to Ploenchit (right?where the World Trade center is) and then cabbing it up to pantip plaza. Try to get off Sukhumvit with the skytrain and then, if you need to, take a taxi because the traffic on Sukhumvit is a nightmare!

What I would like to know is a good place to get reasonably priced second hand books in Thai. My husband loves to read but there are just no books available here at all. It is really hard to find good books in Chatuchak,
