So due to Thai laws we are not allowed to mention proxies.. Any talk of proxies or VPN systems and we get modslapped..

Yet right at the top right of every forum page is a advert for 'Reliable VPN accounts here'

Why are advertisers allowed to promote products we are not allowed to discuss.

Actually, you can mention proxies and VPNs as much as you like without getting slapped.

HOWEVER. Discussing the use of said items for bypassing government controls and other illegal activities is not permitted. This is my interpretation of rule 9:-

9) Not to discuss proxies or other methods of bypassing government blocking of websites.

Thai law does NOT prohibit the use of proxies or VPNs other than the above illegal activities.

EDIT. If you have a particular closed thread in mind please PM me or another mod and we'll review the content.

EDIT 2 We are discussing the clarification of this rule in the mods forum.

VPN's give you privacy, excellent for accessing bank accounts and the like

without risk of local snooping.

Using them to bypassing government blocks is illegal and should not be discussed,

likewise use to watch TV programmes where IP blocking is imposed for copyright reasons.

Hope this helps clarify the situation.

I'll point out my pinned topic on the subject > Proxies & VPNs. Consider this an extension and explanation of forum rule #9.

As I have mentioned in that topic and in other posts, the technology itself is not illegal but the way in which it is used can be. Asking what the best VPN software or service is not against the rules but asking how to get access to gambling sites, copyrighted overseas TV feeds, etc. via VPN or proxies is.
