bambina, I wasn't offended by the topic or even the replies, just wanted to express my opinion on what I have seen of the attitude of a lot of farang guys on this board towards thai men. I could go on those others boards & tell some real horror stories about farang men that would open the eyes of the thai girls on there, but I wouldn't want to spoil their fantasy & just hope they don't get too disapointed with the reality, as no one is perfect & only you can know what it is about someone that attracts & keeps you there. So to me the generalisation is fine if a little tragic if they (farang guys) beleive it.

I would hate to say or think I was better than anyone, never mind Thai men.

I hate to be cynical but I think a lot is based on finance and future security which is always present in any relationship, to a certain extent I would say.

I don't know what attracts Thai woman to farang men, although I do know what attracts me (farang man) to some Thai women ...

1. Interest - Obviously Farang and Thai people are from completely contrasting backgrounds, so for me, hearing of anothers childhood, their upbringing and just general lifestyle is a fascinating thing. It is a wonderful thing to be genuinely interested in your partner, her life and just being enthralled by what she has to say.

2. Being sort of a hopeless romantic I guess I want to meet a woman I can whisk away and fulfil her wildest fantasies and give her anything and everything she has ever desired, and of course live happily ever after.

3 Thai woman are so generous and kind hearted, infact Thai people in general, well the ones I've met anyway.

I have to say that I live in a village and it is quite common.

Thai/Thai arguments seem to be very volatile and easily slip into physical violence. Mind you, violence comes from the women as well as the men.

Possibly, in Thailand, domestic violence is common knowledge. Whereas in farangland it is usually kept behind closed doors.

good topic i think there are different class reasons..

1st) A girl from a poor family cannot really climb the social ladder its the way life is constructed in the LoS, so a nice farang meets nice/cute poor girl and the rest is history... cute girl = happy farang.

Why would you want to remain poor when there are farangs who can look after you.....its all economics..please note I am not saying that poor girls are Bg's I'm talking about normal girls who have normal but low paying jobs....

A poor girl will not be welcome in a middle class chinese family.

2nd) Bar girl meets old man. simple arrangement or bar girl meets stupid green newbie who doesn't care she's a bg.

3rd) Educated girls wanting to explore more than their own culture.

It may be true that a farang guy is perceived to provide bigger boxes, bigger wallets, more security, and so forth. However, all else being equal, I think people are first attracted to those that they can identify with in terms of heredity and culture. At least that’s been my experience with most thai girls. Now when does the threshold for trading up to a better life with a farang come into play? I think that depends upon where the thai girl is coming from (poverty, lack of education, lack of choices) and what the thai guys she’s meeting with have to offer.
