CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (BNO NEWS) -- The Green Bay Packers are on their way to the Super Bowl after defeating the Chicago Bears 21-14 on Sunday to snatch the NFC championship.

The Packers were led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers who threw for 244 yards, completing 17 of his 30 passes, and ran for one touchdown. He was also able to tackle Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher after an interception, avoiding a Chicago touchdown.

Green Bay's defense made key plays that led to their victory with nose tackle B.J. Raji returning an interception for a touchdown in the final quarter to seal their 21 points. Sam Shields was also able to intercept another two passes from Bears' third-string quarterback Caleb Hanie.

Hanie had two fourth-quarter drives that ended with touchdowns, but Shields' second interception in the Packers' own territory cut his third drive that would have tied the game. Chicago's starting quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a knee injury and was only able to play one series during the third quarter. Meanwhile, second stringer Todd Collins replaced him, but after starting 0 of 4 passing, he was replace by Hanie.

The sixth-seeded Green Bay Packers - who previously defeated the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons during the playoffs in away games - are now set to meet the winner of the New York Jets-Pittsburgh Stealers game in the upcoming Super Bowl, which will be held on February 6 in Cowboy Stadium Arlington, Texas.

Since the NFL created the 12-team playoffs in 1990, no sixth-seeded team had made their way into the Super Bowl.
