Garden Hose And Reel.

Featured Replies

Dear Sirs,

good morning to all, I have a trivial request; I am seeking a medium quality garden hose and reel in Chiang Mai. I seek something that will last a few years, not the best quality and durability (unless it's cheap)! nor something that will not last at all. I also need it rather quickly as the remnants of the lawn are dessicated.

Gentlemen and gentlewomen, thank you for reading this.

Yours faithfully,

ishmael.

HomePro both locations have what you are looking for.

You could go to Homepro however you will find Global has a far bigger range and lower prices.

and Home Mart and half the local hardware store in the area.

agreed,,often the local stores are cheaper. homepro is never cheaper

Definately Global house.

But you won`t find any at bargain prices.

Think they start at around 700 baht upwards.

Cheap garden hose that will last at least a week on sale this week at BigC --- 79 baht (You will have to roll it up yourself ;)

Carr four has them 600 baht with a reel

do you know how much thai hardware stores charge per metre? why go to the likes of big c homepro

i use these stores now for all i need in the garden

hope this helps

Hardware stores sell green garden hose by the kilo not by the meter.

Speaking for Homepro, possibly because these places have aircon, stock lots of other things (many of which can't be had elsewhere), and are convenient. These roadside places are also not averse to attempting to rip one off.

Homepro is expensive, but it's the only one that has the highest quality hose (unless other places have caught on in the last few months) - dark green 3/4" pipe with braiding. That stuff does not kink and lasts years, but is pretty expensive. One gets what one pays for. Whatever you do, op, don't go for the clear crap as it kinks badly and grows algae.

Bloody Hell I'm turning into my dad replying to a thread on 'garden hoses' next I'll be listening to Gardeners Question time on the BBC :boring:

Agree with Jack we're on our third hose in 5 years, go for the quality one from Home pro.

Not true. The hardware shops also sell quality hose ( and the cheaper variety) They do sell by kilo but if you compare the per meter price with the equivalent price per meter you see they are cheaper. You are paying for the aircon and the fact they speak english. not all thai stores rip farangs off. many have the price on display, if not, just ask.

but it's up to the individual where they shop and whether they compare prices. there's no problem in shopping at carrefour, big c, tesco, homepro etc

Dear Sirs,

thank you for your many and varied replies. A family member produced the original hose, cut into 12' lengths, why, I have no idea.

I bought some jubilee clips and rejoined them together, rough? yes but it's ready for use and just in time for, as the new moon approaches, they will again worship fire. My impossible fantasies of getting them to coil it up after use have evaporated.

Gentlemen, I thank you for your time and trouble and to "anonymouse" my next posting may well be a question on the virtues of good red Welsh flannel and brown paper.

Once again, thank you very much.

Yours faithfully,

ishmael.

The hose from Global house is not only cheaper but also better quality.

Guys, you're all missing the point. None of the other stores have the type I'm talking about. Yes, the places on the road and Global have more range and yes they're cheaper, but no they don't have the top-end stuff that will last you for many years. Sheesh!

This stuff:

However, if they have acquired it in the last couple months since I scoured them all, then I do apologise, but carry on if you want the inferior tack. ;)

I learnt my lesson on cheap stuff long ago and i buy high quality from local hardwear stores. not cheap but they are cheaper than the big stores

suspect you are not looking in the right places
