Featured Replies

Mother and son caught up in armed robbery, both are shot as they refuse to hand over a gold necklace.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Somshai from Banglamung Police Station was called an area of land behind the Tuantong Temple in Pong Sub-district to report on a shooting incident which had taken place. One dead man and a woman later identified as the dead mans mother had already been taken to Banglamung Hospital. Witnesses at the scene described how the injured woman and her friend were driving their motorbike along this badly lit stretch of road when two men on another motorbike approached the pair and produced a gun. The male passenger demanded a gold necklace which was around the neck of the injured woman, Khun Mookdar aged 58. She refused to hand over the necklace and a struggle ensued. The victim’s son, Khun Monchai aged 29 who saw the commotion as he was driving in front of his mother came to help her. It was at this point that the gunman turned his attentions to the son who was shot three times, once in the chest, once in the abdomen and once in the leg. Although he was not fatally injured at this point, he fell from his bike and received a head injury that killed him at the scene. Police are now hunting for the two assailants who will face charges of assault, robbery and murder when caught.
