AliasDojima Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Hi, Does anyone know of a Middle Eastern grocers where I can get items like Sumac, Za'atar and Pomegrante Molasses? I always get my Indian ingrediants from a little shop in Little India and my Chinese stuff from China town, but have never found a place for Middle Eastern food. I've had a walk around the Soi Arab area but couldn't see any grocery stores, just restaurants. Anyone know of one? Thanks.
theseahorse Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I'm not sure about a grocers in the Soi Arab area, but I bought some Pomegrante Molasses from the Villa by Sukhumvit 33 the other day and have bought Zaátar in Dean & Deluca (under BTS Chong Nonsi), although it wasn't cheap from there, about 100 baht for a 1oz pot. Never seen Sumac here though, sorry. I'd be interested to hear about a Middle Eastern food store too.
Jingthing Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) Most all of the Iranian restaurants in Pattaya have sumac on the table (there are over 20 of them now). Usually in jars but sometimes in plastic packets. Worst case, you can ask them where they get it. Edited February 8, 2011 by Jingthing
bjaz Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Reviving an old thread, but any evolution in 10 years? Specifically looking for za'atar - it's on lazada but at 1K+ for a pot which is beyond ridiculous.... cheers b
