Is It Racist To Not Be Attracted To Certain Racial Groups?

Does this mean I'm not allowed to be a Rice Queen any more? :(

You as well endure mate? Bloody hell I never knew. I tell you this forum is gayer than Santa's toy workshop at the North Pole! :D

My apologies if it wasn't obvious. For the record I am a Friend of Dorothy

 No mate it's me. It was only extremely recently that I realised that F1fanatic was a woman.

I'm not quite sure how to say this but if you're not very good at figuring out who's Arthur and who's Martha are you sure that Thailand's the place for you? You could get terribly confused :whistling:

JT, do you sometimes sit and think that you think too much instead of just enjoying life? :D

I'm caucasian (white) and I don't find my 'race' attractive at all. Give me the darker version anyday, love those dark asses.

I have no idea if that makes me racist, I've never thought of it and prefer not to think of it otherwise I'll have bad thoughts when doing something (someone) I like.

I'm just happy to have my beers and girls without the deep thought.

Yet another thread that's ended up as an 'in joke' de facto PM combination between long term forum members.<_<

At least we're posting rather than whining.

Is there a difference?<_<

I've been happily posting in other topics, others not so happily I admit, but at least I'm posting for the benefit of all BMs.B)

Sorry. I'll try to make more worthwhile contributions such as these.

They're all pink on the inside anyway.
Black bums are best.

:D

Don't fret. Jing will be along later to get us back on course. Cat's away mice will play and all that.

Evolutionary theory tells us that we should be attracted to people who look like us, but different enough to prevent recessive genes becoming predominant.

It most certainly does not. Natural selection has a role in the selection of mates for reproductive activity. The inherent desires may not appear as important today as they were only a few hundred years ago, but they remain. If your opinion was valid, then how do you explain the behaviour of the visually impaired? They demonstrate the same range of preferences as do those that can see clearly.

I don't like the way bb bb smells. That is blonds with blue eyes but all four genes not Bb Bb which can also turn out blonds with blue eyes but not smell bad. Forgive me if my genetic notation is incorrect or ancient, it's been a long time, but you know what I mean. This applies to males or females. I simply don't like the odor.

Thai hair and eyes whatever the combination as long as it is black or close to it, I like the odor.

The odor of a natural redhead with green eyes has the same effect on me as Viagra. I have no idea why.

This is natural odor and is different than women wearing pantyhose or men wearing nylon football shirts which also smell rancid to me. Same with any kind of polyester knickers.

I don't care about skin color except I think pasty white looks unhealthy. I think my indifference to skin color is due to being born white and wet nursed and raised by a black woman. Also my transition from adolescence to manhood happened in South East Asia.

If you want to test my theory have your Thai significant other eat asparagus and then smell the urine. Try the same thing with a blonde blue eyed dancer at ****** in Pattaya. Of course you may be part of the 6% who can't detect differences in urine smell with or without having ingested asparagus. Or maybe you are just not into watersports.

One only has to go to Pattaya and see all of the women who only a year ago thought Indians smelled bad now hand and hand with the same Indian gentlemen.

Um,no, your generalization of all women is false, but feel free to believe this if you like since it clearly mirrors your experiences with women.

Since we are talking about simple attraction, personally, I find all different colors of skin attractive, from blond haired blue eyed guys to Asians to black men. Immediate attraction can be any combination of looks, frankly but what keeps the attraction has to be intelligence, a sense of humor and decency.

Do I think people who only find one look attractive racist? No, but I find people who feel the need to abuse, insult or denigrate others based on the color of their skin to be so, yes.

When the first whaling ships arrived in the South Seas they found a culture that advocated indiscriminate premarital sex. Is it any wonder that they became attracted to Polynesian women?

When the first ex pats came to Thailand they found a culture that was similar to the Polynesian women with a slight fee. Is it any wonder they became attracted to Thai women.

I haven't met many men who have been attracted to women for intelligence, a sense of humor and decency.

More like Elizabeth Taylor was described, “looks of an angel and the morals of a trucker.” The perfect woman.

But that what makes life interesting.

I am repulsed by men who denigrate women based on skin color. You do see it a lot. LBFM's, slopes, gooks, chinks, Only nasty people use words like that. I wish there was something I could do about it. But I can only be me and treat all people with respect.

Well said, Mark. You can only be yourself and treat others with respect. And, a better understanding of a foreign culture goes a long way in helping things. But being intoxicated usually does not bring out the best in people.

My intent was to open up reflection about not only overt racism (and not only heterosexual attraction, non-attraction either). Obviously, people who openly mouth ugly slurs are racist. But what about more subtle, even unconscious manifestations of racism that just soak into us as a result of growing up in various societies which are all racialized in different ways? I think they certainly exist.

I think you are overthinking it, personally. Just because you are attracted to a certain look does not mean you are racist. I grew up in whitebread middle class suburban America and yet I didn't limit myself to white men. So what?

No, I don't think the attraction or lack of to certain racial groups is racist. I think denying yourself a relationship with someone from a certain group you do find attractive could be a manifestation of social conditioning (what will my family say/do etc) or deep rooted racist in-doctrine. imo you like who you like, it isn't something anyone can control but what you do after is the key.

Given the damage racism has done in the world, in the past, and now, I don't really think you can overthink anything about the topic. Also keep in mind that both racist sexuality myths and social control over individual mating decisions is often a part of racist theories and societies. You really can't separate any discussion about humans from SEX.

I was 16 years old. She was 16 years old. I took her to the club to watch a movie. My mother was there with her high society friends. I was on a roll, the club was beautiful, exclusive and I had access to our 46 foot sailboat which slept 8 people. No one was aboard that night. I had Scotch in the locker and ice in the ice bin. She was a beautiful Turkish girl. Long black hair and olive complexion. She was holding my hand tight as we entered the library where mom was playing bridge.

I said, “mom this is Nadire.” My mother said, “I know dear she is the dark one.”

I don't know why she said it. I never referred to the lady as being dark. But that was that. She dropped my hand and as soon as we got of earshot of my mother she said, “take me home.”

My mother who had seen the signs in Boston that read “Irish need not apply.” Her being as Irish as paddy's pig. Her long blond hair and perfect breasts that never nursed me. The black wet nurse was for that. Saved her shape. Dear old mom. She is gone now with the angels. I hope they are white enough for her.

You really should write novels. You are wasted here. :)
