PAD Conditionally Supports Bilateral Talks with Cambodia

The PAD has announced its support for bilateral talks with Cambodia to resolve the border dispute, but only when the Cambodian settlements have been removed from the disputed area.

During press briefing, Spokesperson to the People's Alliance for Democracy, or the PAD, Panthep Puapongpan repudiated a remark made by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva that the yellow shirts are against bilateral talks with Cambodia to solve the border dispute in order to distort the truth.

Panthep pointed out that the PAD supports bilateral talks with Cambodia, but oppose the memorandum of understanding signed with Phnom Penh in 2000 which endorses the map ratio of 1:200,000, saying the negotiations must take place only once Cambodian settlers have been expelled from the disputed area.

Panthep also lashed out at the government for being incompetent in dealing with the situation with Cambodia and reiterated that the memorandum of understanding of 2000 must be revoked.

Panthep asserted that Phanom Penh's recent attempt to call for a multilateral talks and refusal to scrap the memorandum of understanding will only demonstrate that Thailand has endorsed the 1:200,000 map to the international community.

The PAD also revealed a set of photographs, showing some Thai MPs participating in a religious ceremony at the Buddhist temple built by Cambodia in the disputed area.

Panthep claimed that Phnom Penh could use these photos to argue at the United Nations that the Thai Parliament has approved the Cambodian settlements in the disputed area.

Meanwhile, Major General Chamlong Srimuang, a key leader of the PAD, said that there have been a number of thefts committed by Cambodians who have infiltrated the rally.

He announced that from now on, people will be asked for their citizen ID cards before being allowed to enter the demonstration area.

Seems to indicate that the policies and actions that P.A.D espouse are but waste body fluid and flatulence.

it's how easy it gets to blame anybody else, but not themselves, for any problems - whether it's a border dispute or theft within the ranks. Sadly, those demented and deluded retired ex-servicemen will believe and clap to everything said from their demented and deluded leaders

Oups! Ethnic purity in PAD crowds?

Anyway, no need to tell. All of us know that the thefts which happen in Thailand are made by Cambodians.

Who cares who or what PAD supports, they are being complete pains.

Exactly. Stop publishing their dribble

Who cares...., you ask?

Many of us do care very much, when the yellows are telling what is going on behind the scenes....

If you are a long stay in Thailand, you too ought to care.... because it involves your future well being as well as your life and investments in Thailand....

I can not imagine, if you are an asset holder or investor of any degree.... that you won't care about what is happening or what is going to happen....

to you personally and to those significant to you....

Any way, you surely are entitled to your opinion--whatever they happen to be....

Just want to disagree with several opinions expressed above. sorry. :(

PAD Criticizes Cambodian Politicians

The People's Alliance for Democracy claims that Cambodian politicians are only aiming to serve their own self-interests.

The group has also refused to negotiate with the Thai government, saying that the time for talks has run out.

Spokesperson for People's Alliance for Democracy Panthep Puapongpan produced “Country for Sale”, a research report on corruption that was written by Global Witness, an international non-profit organization.

Panthep pointed out that their investigation has exposed widespread corruption committed by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his cronies.

While the majority of the Cambodian population is living in poverty, the politicians in Phnom Penh have been lining their own pockets by selling the country's national resources such as forests and petroleum to foreigners.

The PAD spokesperson added that all of these exploitative transactions are under control of companies owned by Prime Minister Hun Sen and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An's families.

Panthep claims that the report clearly shows that Cambodian politicians sell interests of their country for personal interests.

As such, the PAD urged the government to be aware of Cambodia's devious politicians.

About the United Nations Security Council meeting, Panthep said he believes that Thailand has the upper hand on many points as Cambodia was the aggressor, which ordered its military to target civilians.

Panthep also turned down a proposal made by the Thai Broadcast Journalists Association to mediate talks between the PAD and the government, saying that the window for negotiation is now closed.

Another debate would be futile because the group is now demanding for the premier's resignation.

Instead, the PAD spokesperson asked the journalists association to present facts from both sides to the public.

Whether we like it or not....

At present, the PAD is the only organization that dares to present views and documentations that are considered as going against current Apisit's govt policies....

While most media are keeping any criticism against govt very quiet and low key, the PAD is the only group that is voicing all the govt corruption in public....

Imo, the PAD should really be encouraged to continue its presentation even though Apisit and his deputies are scheming to sweep the PAD under the rug by whichever means they can think of....

If and when the university students body decides that they have had enough.... and whenever that happens....

It would almost always near certain that the end is at hand....

Many of the high ranking military and police dignitaries' children and relatives are in the student groups in different universities....

At this point in time, I would guess that some of the Apisit deputies would have to go, particularly those considered to be traitors, selling out Thailand interests to Camb and HuSen.... imho....
