RickThai Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Hello All, I'm fairly new to the forums, so forgive me if I bring up something that has been beat to death, but I saw some videos on YouTube which showed some people catching giant catfish and carp at a lake (or lakes) on Koh Samui. I am curious what's up with that? Is that just a tourist thing or is there really lake fishing on Koh Samui? Thanks for the info. Rick
Master of the court Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Well, if any fish can survive Chaweng lake, then dont touch it :cheesy:
H2oDunc Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I think you mean " Top Cats " in Taling nam. I believe he has some really big fish in his lake if that is your thing though it isn't cheap.
samuijimmy Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 On the way to Thaling Ngan , perhaps 1/2 to 1 km off the ring road, there is a fishing place... (S.W. area of the island, turn right if coming from Nanton, there is a flashing light, & 7-11 on left, if I remember) ... The road way in the area is lined with cut out figures with fishing rods .... I suspect this may be the place you saw on You Tube??? I've never stopped to check out, since fish always disappear when I try fishing... & I don't think the place would be overrun with fishing tourists. It's a pleasant and quieter area of the island with some nice secluded beaches if you take time to seek them out !
robsamui Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Yep - it's Top Cats. Website: http://www.fishinginthailand.com/koh-samui.html Rob
RickThai Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Thanks for the info. It was the Top Cats lake. I expect it is fairly expensive. I might check it out as a one time thing, since I have never caught a fish larger than 2-3 kilos. Thanks again. Rick
Tropicalevo Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I have had a few customers who have fished at Top Cats a while back. They did catch some huge fish. I cannot remember the prices and they used to do an 'overnight' fishing session. I understand that they will also collect and return people to their hotels
