Question Re Bus From Udon T To Loei

I haven't been in this part of the country for a while.

After a few days in Udon Thani with my wife, we today travelled from Udon to Loei in one of the old rattler buses, the ones with 90% of the rooftop fans only working when they felt like it. I think something to do with the tilt of the bus to the road surface.

Anyway, I'm getting on a bit in years and would have really appreciated getting one of the Air Con type buses, there seemed to be at least two companies doing the run from the bus station on the Udon ring road to Phitsanulok with Loei marked on the buses as a major stop.

My wife tried in vain to get a straight answer from the ticket reps seated at the "good" buses, each time she was rudely pointed to the old non aircon types.

Last year I easily got one of the better buses at Loei which was coming from Phitsanulok to Udon, so wondering why one cannot do this in the reverse?

Or is there an agreement between companies at the udon end to shunt anyone going to Loei onto the oldie bus?

Made it to Phitsanulok on a "good" bus. Booked the day prior at the Loei Bus staion. Nice lady sold us tickets and said we would have a seat.

Yes, next morning I noticed the most orderly boarding of a bus, where the lady in charge boarded everybody in a very precise way without the usual panic and we got the seats as promised.

Usually only see this with NCA, but this was a good second class bus with the comfortable cloth seating.

Why we couldn't get the same class of bus in Udon a couple of days earlier, I don't know?

Fairly sure NakonChai don't do this route from Loei to Phitsanulok.

(Battery running a tad flat now to check the schedule)
