When a phone is software-locked to only accept a certain sim-card, and refuse others. Also: provider lock-in. I don't know how hard it will be for a blackberry but any decent phone shop can usually remove locks in minutes.

Blackberry is harder to do than mobile. I went to all the phone shops where I live and was told I could find somewhere in Bangkok to do it. Gave up and ditched the Blackberry. PM if you are able to do it as I still have the Blackberry (not used).

if that can help I had my blackberry unlocked in Tottenham Court road in London for GBP 15 and few minutes to wait for it.

However in Bangkok they could o it if they have access to internet with the code to unlock any one......

yeah blackberry app world ...find the sim unlock app...it cost about 15 gbp... install run hey presto

Not hard to do...did it on my daughter's BB.

Unlock code can be bought all over the net.

About 200 baht at MBK in Bangkok....just wander around and ask many booths how much. I have unlocked several Blackberrys and it always has worked perfectly.
