My wife and I are over 60 years of age and both are interested in getting a retirement visa.

Cut story short, we were both given a Non-immigrant "O" Visa at the Embassy. Single entry.

Now what shall we do?

In fact I have just bank in 800,000 Baht into a Thai Bank in Bangkok by bank draft

about two weeks ago. The problem is that we have not gone back to Bangkok to update

the savings account yet.

We will be returning back to Thailand 10th of next month.

The other problem is that we have to come home to Malaysia every one or two months.

And once we leave Thailand our "o" visa for the next 90 days would be effected.

Is it true? If we got to apply for a new "O" visa again ?

What shall we do ? Any better suggestions ?

Your kind advice will be much appreciated.

Thanking you all in advance.

you can take the updated bank book and go to penang and apply for a single non o visa

and then apply for 1 year extension at your local immagration office

Apply for re-entry permit before you leave Thailand the next time - that will keep your current 90 day stay alive when you return (you can do more than once if needed). Only one person can obtain retirement extension and money must be in there name only when using 800k. Once extension is obtained the spouse can obtain matching dependent extension of stay without funds being required.

Thank you very much for your kind advice, Lopburi3.

We will get the re-entry permit to keep the 90 days stay alive.

The next important question is this.

I just bank in the 800K dated 8th April to my Thai Bank.

Do I need to wait for "two months" to apply ?

Or can I apply immediately when I arrive there early next month?

Any else do we need ?

Your kind advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

You can not apply until the money has been in bank account 60 days if using only money method. That is why you would need to use re-entry permit to keep your non immigrant O entry alive and spouse will also need to do that or obtain a new non immigrant O visa entry after you get your extension of stay.

When time to apply get letter from bank of account balance addressed to immigration and have passbook/copies of all pages signed by you. Have some proof of residence with you, a 4x6cm current photo for TM.7 form and 1,900 baht fee.

Oh yes! My wife just bought a condo in Bangkok.

So address no problem. That means we have to wait for

the money in "60" days before we apply.

Do we need medical reports or and any other items?

Your kind advice is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Should just be what I mentioned above. They might want you to draw a sketch map to home but if in city (condo) probably would not be required.

Thank you very much, Lopburi3.

We will follow all what you have suggested.

You make it my day.

Thank you once again and have a nice day.
