Hi,

A friend of mine has a double entry tourist visa. As I understand it, after 60 days (or less) he can use the 2nd entry and thus get 60 more days to stay in Thailand. To do this, can he just cross the border into a neighbouring country and come straight back again, same as some people used to do with old style 30-day stamp visa runs? Also, can you extend each of the entries the same as you can for a "normal" single entry visa, thus getting a maximum of 180 days in total out of one double entry visa?

Thanks in advance!

Exit and return to get the 2nd entry of 60 days.

Each entry can be extended by 30 days.

Just be careful to make sure that the Visa is still valid when making the second entry.

hi, after the 2nd double entry visa of 60 days is utilized; can the passport holder go across the border, stay a night (assuming using visa run company) to get a double entry again? thanks

That is increasingly difficult. You might be lucky and inquire with the visa run agency first.

The time of getting unlimited back to back tourist visas seem to be over for now, at least when applying in neighbouring countries.

Does this list need a bit of an update then?

Btw Mario, the first installment of 60 days double entry was done by crossing to Poipet and staying one night. just for your info coz i think i missed this info in my question.

Are you sure that a visa can be extended by 30 days ? I thought it was 7 maximum .

As I understand it, 7 days is the maximum you can extend a 30 day entry stamp by, but a tourist visa can be extended by 30 days.
