New Nissan Tiida

Featured Replies

Some may have seen the recent news article posted on friday (no links allowed!) about the new nissan tiida. They talked about engines, and mentioned the 190 hp 1.6 from the Juke, but did not say if this would be available in the Thai version. Apparently the Chinese will have it. That's a bucket load of power for a mid sized car. Can anyone confirm if this engine will be available here? According to the article the new tiida will be available sometime late next year. Another article also suggested the regular 1.6 will be uprated to about 125HP.

Wow! 190Hp out of a stock 1.6 is impressive, if it's not available here it could be possible though to make the changes to a local model if the parts are just OEM bolt ons and an ECU or chip..

The old 1.6L turbo charged F1 engines back in the day before the big normally aspirated engines were getting about 750 Hp per litre. Of course they also had exotic fuels but still that shows the potential of these smaller engines and that tech dates back over a decade.. It's rumored that FIA wants F1 to go back to something similar in 2013 and already they've changed the WTCC rules to 1.6l turbo charged engines so what goes around comes around..

We're not allowed links  ? Or the site you read wouldn't allow a link? Wish I could see it, can you PM the link then?

Edit: Never mind I Googled it and it's not normally aspirated it's a turbo :( . You can do that with any model Tiida here too same engine platform..

Yeah sorry I didn't clarify that its a turbo. Its the engine used in the Nissan Juke. Still, if we get it and its factory fitted then at least it's covered by warranty, unlike an aftermarket unit. The link was to that website we can't mention in TV:) Wonder what the price would be if it becomes available here.

That's true about the warranty but you stink for getting me all excited :( !!
