Does location make a big impact on whether you enjoy life? I believe that for me it does not...

Of course you are correct, nocturn. I freely admit i enjoy sex with beautiful women. I don't know any heterosexual men that don't. The ones that SAY they don't are either liars or they've lost the hormones that make them a man. However, I will also say that every women I'm with is there by choice. Anyone who says they aren't are either liars or they don't know shit. Take your choice.

I don't spend time with people who don't enjoy my company... whether it is male or female. But, I will also say that very few people want to be exclusively with one other person every day for 365 days a year... 10 years in a row. There is not a dam thing wrong with being a sexpat. It keeps the economy going and it provides jobs for thousands. I get tired of the self righteous bigots that say sex is supposed to end once a single man reaches the age of 50. What arrangements that married couples have between each other is entirely up to them. But I know for certain that there are a LOT of frustrated married couples out there... both men and women.

It seems to me instead of saying you like Thailand you should just say you like cheap sex. I have my doubts if you would be coming to Thailand so much if you couldn't get your groove on cheaply. It is sort of like somebody going to Bolivia for just for cocaine and then claiming to love the place. I couldn't really care less but get the feeling of it weren't for the girls you would be waxing on about how you love the Philippines or where ever that happens to cater to your sexual frustrations. As far as the girls you pay for sex enjoying your company, you do realise they are paid to pretend they do right?

I am not meaning to sound like I am attacking you or anything but those two points sort of stuck out to me.

I don't go to the Philippines anymore because of the corruption and all the scams. And, it's not a safe place to travel on your own if you are a foreigner. Besides that, the filipinas are lovely. In Thailand I can travel freely and safely anywhere except for the deep southern portion in Muslim states. I can't do that in most countries in South America either unless I'm with a travel group. I feel sorry that you no longer have the opportunity to be with beautiful women. Fortunately, I do.

I spent several years visiting the Philippines until I finally got tired of having my stuff stolen off busses, or getting hijacked in taxis and having acquaintances murdered. Despite spending time in what many people call the "seedier" parts of Thailand I've never felt threatened. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but just not to me. I never get drunk and I never flash money or gold. You don't have to flash gold to get hijacked in the Philippines. Like many places in Africa, the locals will do it on the off chance that you MIGHT have something they could use. The Philippines could be a fabulous place if it wasn't for the corruption and the scams. There are too many to list them all. There are 7000 beautiful islands, but the corruption starts from the top and spreads to every part of the country. I basically blame the Catholic church and its hypocritical methods and thinking. The same holds true for many countries in South America... which is ALSO Catholic.

But, there IS no hostility on my part towards you or anyone on this forum. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Nothing bothers me at all, but I will reply to comments made in my direction. We even have heated debates within my own family, but we still like each other.

Yah, I know what you mean, but expensive is all in the eyes of the beholder (or pocketbook). I know guys who think nothing of spending $1000 on a Las Vegas hooker and believe they've had a good deal. Paul McCarney spent about 50 million dollars getting rid of his ex-wife of 4 years, while the ex-mayor of New York spent over 2 grand a night for a high class hooker for the same length of time. Do the math. Who got the best deal?

That is a good point, Rich, I think I would. I actually SAVE money in the winter by comming to Thailand. It costs ME less to live, but I'm happy eating Thai food. And, I won't go into THAT discussion because we've all had our say on that topic many times before. But, I can enjoy the sun and do all the other things I like about Thailand.. Of course, young, attractive, and willing women are certainly an added attraction. I could not get that in stuffy old Canada. It's full of sour old people who sit all day in front of a television or watch porn on the internet and try to remember the good old days. It's no wonder the most popular advertisements on television is for Cialis or Viagra. When I look around the supermarket or go to the Mall and look at the people I understand why.

We've strayed a bit off topic... The original question was "Do you like living here?" And filled in with a bit of background experiences. There was no mention of sex.

In my Condo there are a group of guys that do nothing but complain about all things Thai, they hang around the swimming pool poisoning the atmosphere day after day.

I asked them why they stay in Thailand when they are obviously unhappy, and I can't get a straight answer.

If I ask them why they left their home country, I get a straight answer, usually along the lines of, " It's Shit" !! OK, so I understand why they left.

So, what keeps them in Thailand ? It can't be that bad, else they wouldn't be here, but they will never admit that.

IME the one's that whinge the most are the one's that don't have a choice. Stuck here in a business or relationship that is eating them alive (and often where they can't communicate very well with their local counterparts).

I take the blame for mentioning women. That changed the direction of the topic, but I was just being honest in pointing out one of the many things I like about Thailand and why I spend a good portion of my life there instead of some other warm country...

I think I would complain more if I HAD to live in Thailand full time. There are many valid reasons to complain, and some are directly the fault of something we are not allowed to mention on tv. I can easily see how some naive man could fall in love in Thailand and get himself in a position he can't get out of. I know a few men like that and listen to their stories. Most take up drinking that just acerbates their problem. The lightweights just run off and leave a pregnant Tha woman behind, or their direct blood children to some Thai grandmother to look after.

Those are valid reasons and crime is ALWAYS compounded when there is a wide discrepancy in the sharing of the wealth in a country. Any time you have relatively wealthy people walking around and mixing with people who are living in poverty, or next to poverty, then there WILL be crime. It's only in places like Singapore where if you commit a crime there is no mercy shown at all and you can lose your life for a petty crime, that crime is not so evident..

It's sad to note that Thai society has adapted and borrowed this terrible affliction introduced from foreign places. The disease of obsessed and mindless consumption.....the root of many problems here that didn't exist in days of yore. This unnecessary need for want and subliminal consumptive behaviour is incredibly destructive.
