The diabetes drug Glucophage XR is out of patent and can be obtained as a generic.

Does anyone happen to know the generic name that it is sold under in Thailand?

Thanks

metformin hydrochloride is the active ingredient and is sold here under the Metformin Rx850 name but don't know if they also have an extended release version here.

Metformin is available here under literally dozens of brand names but I haven't seen an extended release form nor do I find one listed in MIMS. Best to ask a pharmacist.

XR normally are designed to dissolve at different times over a long period (this is a one tablet evening medication it seems). Unfortunately no two people are the same and the production process would have to be of a much higher standard. I would likely use a normal version unless doctor is sure that a specific brand was safe and up to standards. Especially if it just involves two times a day rather than once a day.
